NORTHERN CYPRUS OPEN CANCELLED
Hi all
I have just received this email from the organisers of the Northern Cyprus Open as you can see it states due to Covid 19 & increasing cases they have decided to cancel the event.
All those that have paid whether it be deposits or full payment will receive an immediate full refund.
Please email your bank details.
So dissapointed but safety first we have to accept.
Hi Paula,
I am writing you this e-mail so that can show people our latest comment on the Northern Cyprus 2020.
As you know we were waiting for the date 15 July 2020 to have clearer point of vision about what happens with the border issue, the closed hotel opening date announcement, the governments Covid-19 declaration and other countries trip regulations from one country to another country.
The Government has adviced Hotels to reconsider opening this year because of the uncertainty of the Covid-19 continiuing spread and therefore both sides may not be able to allow passing the boarder from one side to the other. This of course means no tourists at all.
Therefore yesterday night after the board of directors meeting; the Kaya Artemis Hotel announced that they will not be able to reopen till March 2021, because of the negative effects of the Covid-19. This is the same for %90 of the Hotels in Northern Cyprus.
Thus, we will not be able to make the Northern Cyprus Open this year and kindly ask you to refund any deposits taken. We kindly ask all of our guests to change their plans for October 2021. As the organizators of the Turkish Open and the Northern Cyprus Open for 12 years, we wish all darts lovers healthy days and a Non-Covid-19 2021 year.
Kind regards,
Ali Bagci-Tolga Bora

Bizarre how that High Roller fella hangs on the words of oche, like he's some kind of authority. Here I was thinking he's just some lad pissing about on the internet like the rest of us. Maybe I'm just jealous.

Just in case some poor soul still cares, no World Masters this year. Will we see one of the "world" "championships" this year, who knows?

'WDF World Masters'
'WDF World Championships'
They were calling them things like '"Masters" style event' the last time I looked.

Absolutely, it's been a fixture of comedy for years now, something to have a good laugh at every year once the proper darts has finished at Ally Pally.
Hope they can put something on in order to keep us all laughing .

The landlord of my local (ish) said in December that he'd rather have the BDO darts on first, then the proper world championships. His theory being that: It makes you more excited for the PDC edition. Could sort of see his point but.Mabbsy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:11 amAbsolutely, it's been a fixture of comedy for years now, something to have a good laugh at every year once the proper darts has finished at Ally Pally.

Lol, tricky one. I don't know where I'd recommend that the WDF put it. Now now, don't be rude.Jimmi wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:37 amThe landlord of my local (ish) said in December that he'd rather have the BDO darts on first, then the proper world championships. According to what Des said(!) in one of his very many meltdowns on official BDO notepaper, the WDF plan is for their amateur worlds to be in early December.
So I wonder if they are indeed trying to step out of the shadow of Ally Pally, maybe even out of the shadow of the dead BDO. Trouble is, the Ally Pally hype and anticipation in early December is massive. The PDC Worlds casts a huge shadow over the whole of December which could swallow up this funny old thing into an enormous 'meh'. At least in January it would have the stage to itself.
The WDF could do themselves a big favour by branding it sensibly, as something entirely different from Ally Pally. The BDO expected people to accept that they were running the same thing as the PDC. They actively invited comparison and by fuck they got it.

If the WDF do run a world championship, I bet they hold it at Lakeside.
