Re: The BDO Appreciation Society - Sponsored by Zeyes
Decided to count the rest of the first round ticket sales up on the Guild Hall site:
Wednesday night (players on that night include Mitchell, Hedman, Robson and the defending mens champion) - 23 (counted yesterday)
Thursday night (players on that night include Harmns, McGeeney, Williams and Jacklin) - 28
Friday night (players on that night include Waites, O'Shea, Phillips, Ashton and Durrant - 20
So the night with the mens world champion, and a Friday night at that, has sold a paltry 20 table tickets. Even the Jacklin clan dont seem to be going on the Thursday!
Didnt think it could get worse than the Welsh cinema but its probably going to be!

How come they sell more tickets to the Wednesday and Thursday sessions than to the rest of the days? Twice as many on Thursday than on finals day, doesn't make sense?

Well it displays perfectly people only want to go and see their mates in their guaranteed 1st round match. Once they get knocked out, they will more than likely fuck offThe Thorn wrote:How come they sell more tickets to the Wednesday and Thursday sessions than to the rest of the days? So basically they're pissing away thousands of pounds on a piss-up for the players and a small group of their mates? Makes sense.
I remember watching a BDO event a year or so ago, and you could see that the players made up a fraction of the crowd. Duzza and Jamie Hughes were both visible each time the cameras panned to the audience.

Counted them all. Number in brackets is the increase since April 26th (almost a month ago)
Wed = 23 (+18)
Thu = 28 (+16)
Fri = 20 (+16)
Sat afternoon = 18 (+4)
Sat eve = 47 (+12)
Sun aft = 7 (+1)
Sun eve = 14 (+3)
TOTAL = 157 (+70)
Welsh cinema at the same stage before the event last year? 154.
So double the sessions and barely any more tickets sold, unless everyone is booking the cheaper stands tickets and hoping to be moved forward

99% of business ventures would take one look at those numbers and just cancel it. Surely gone beyond a vanity project now and they are carrying on purely out embarrassment and not ruffling the feathers of maybe half a dozen BDO ‘diehards’.

The Sunday afternoon
I wonder what Little Richard thinks. The experience left him sounding shattered last year. Next week would you rather be working for Sky at the World Cup or trying to energise a few embarrassed individuals at this farce (again)...

Just to confirm are those numbers of the total number of total tables sold or individual tickets? I fear the latter!

I wish they wasn't so bad but at the same time I'm going to laugh at their incompetence

Some British rallying stuff full trash
I'd understand if it was WRC or something like that
I know a few names of that
But this is just a no name stuff

Which makes it strange that the BDO's version of the Premier League never took off. Guaranteed player appearances, no need to stick around for another day, etc...The Ginge Reaper wrote:Well it displays perfectly people only want to go and see their mates in their guaranteed 1st round match. Only a single full table has been sold across the entire 7 sessions (Table 8, Saturday evening)

Yeah but the players out of the comp will be there again. So the senile John Gwynne can claim a record audience
