Anyway, players qualifying for the PDC Worlds through the Pro Tour may be winning £20,000 in the process this year, but they'll never get to enjoy being referred to as "the reigning Police Masters champion" while they walk on to the stage, as James Hurrell will in January.
I do cringe sometimes when Richard Ashdown reels off those titles just before the walk-on like they are huge things to win.
Big changes on the way ! We've heard it before but it's different this time !!!! , I believe Bdo gonna grow x

The worst thing about it is that it's clearly part of the BDO ethos (well beyond LR, I mean) that winning tinpot opens en route to the Lakeside is more laudable than battling to last 16 and last 32 finishes against the world's best to qualify for Ally Pally. Because trophies.

One amusing side note from the current Lakeside season is that we're right back to seeing ranking titles decided in events that play best of 5 legs deep into the tournament, now that the BDO has given up its futile three-year battle of trying to mandate more credible match formats. Bet that tells the likes of Dean Reynolds all they need to know when they compare it to the Dev and Challenge Tour formats.

They let the IoM use carrier pigeon and pen and paper to do results for years, I'm not really surprised.

Baxter was introduced at one of the cross-code things a decade ago as something like 'The former Finland Open champion' and he looked utterly baffled. This was years after he'd switched. A more notable achievement than his 2 Lakeside finals evidently. What a load of shite.

I wear it as a badge of honor much like being on the fartoid bull shit meter. You know your doing something good, right, and morally correct when your pissing off certain people. :D

I like the ring of Police Masters Champion....if the walk on was done here in the USA we could easily get the police to escort Hurrell for the walk on. The Police could pummel the shit out of people with their nightsticks as they are coming down the aisle. They would probably be happy to shoot any people of color free of charge.

Haha quality. Winning a tournament and earning about 5% of what he earned being runner up at the "Pinnacle of World Darts"
evidently more important.

Richard Ashdown should be considered one of the best announcers in darts for being able to keep a straight face while saying "runner up to the Rochdale open" or something similar.

I’ve heard stories of Ted Senna V Randall Hankey especially their 1981 Rotherham open QF match.
