Is that why he's a psychiatric nurse?SuperSwede wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 3:14 am Warriner was a bit of a mental midget. When the going got tough he more often than not got going, hence why he packed it in.

I'm mainly going off the latter part of his career and his own testimony saying he couldn't handle losing so packed it in. I'm not sure being a psychiatric nurse makes you immune for being mentally fragile at the sharp end of sport either, in fact it could make you more likely to fall victim to paralysis through analysis.PT13 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 2:44 pmIs that why he's a psychiatric nurse?SuperSwede wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 3:14 am Warriner was a bit of a mental midget. He was losing a lot towards the end of his career. That was around late noughties time. I was thinking more of his best moments. He could be a very dangerous player, hard to beat when confident, lacked the consistency of his friend Harrington but sometimes had the same stubbornness. As I said before, he blew the 1999 World Championship semi he had with Taylor. Serious chances there as Taylor won 5-3. When they met again the following year in the quarters, in a hyped up match, Taylor won 5-0, jumped about the stage and Warriner walked off without any handshake. For some reason, that's much less remembered than the Manley handshake refusal in 2002. Perhaps because the latter was a final.SuperSwede wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 10:31 pmI'm mainly going off the latter part of his career and his own testimony saying he couldn't handle losing so packed it in. It reads like you've seen more of his career than i have though, you view him as a closer?
I remember much more of the 5-0 blowout than the 5-3 the year before so my view of him might be timing based and it can be difficult to evaluate players from back in those days as it takes more than just looking at CV's because there wasn't as much to go around back then and what was was largely hoovered by Taylor.PT13 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 10:47 pmHe was losing a lot towards the end of his career.
