Yet, take that moment of Lakeside-borne haplessness in last week’s quarter-finals, as shown on Eurosport, when Michael Unterbuchner of Germany had a chance to take out 167. He hit treble one, treble one and single two, making a somewhat disappointing eight in total and leaving himself on 159. This must surely have been the first time in the history of the Lakeshite, even, that a player has stepped up to the oche on a three-dart finish, only to walk away from it, three darts later, on a four-dart finish.

It is fucking amazing. The best of the howlers need bumped in the near future, I think. The suffering must not have been for nothing.

What about this. Toilet roll, there.

I've seen a small number of players on something under 120 who are near certainties to leave at least a 2-dart finish and then end up on 99, but going from 167 to 159 takes the biscuit. What on Earth was Unterbuchner going for when he hit the single 2? The 17s? Why?

Well considering I saw him hit a single 4 going for treble 20 during the tournament, it's entirely possible he could have been going for any target on the board.

Well this can be bumped now.

Reigning champion switches to the PDC along with last year's Lakeside finalist, a World Trophy quarter-finalist and a PDC reject who said he would definitely be back at Frimley Green next year.
2020 World Grand Prix Lucky Dip winner!
2x 2019 Q-School Lucky Dip winner!

Both as valuable as the Lakeside piss pot!

How splendid.

Having no defending champion can start off the 2020 howlers.

How eurosport spin the 3 time back to back champion being missing and the event being no more than a hollow farce will be very interesting.

They either won't mention him, or will mention him as if he were a legend of many years past.

BBC managed to do it when Bunting left without defending.

Maybe he could have dragged Taylor down, we will never know.

They've lost champions endless times but a 3 time in a row winner is going to be hard to excuse

They didn't have Barney in 2007, and wouldn't even let Sylvia sit in the crowd to talk to her old friends.

Is the massive fuckoff pic of a tour card holder holding the cherished piss pot on the website banner a howler? Not the best look even for Des' easygoing new era.
