Bang in front of the posts to win the cup, this is a nightmare in 1968. Conditions were horrendous and at least the lad attacked it which is more than you can say for Bristow.

Golf has had some bad ones.
The guy who needed to hole a 2 ft putt to win the 1989 masters and missed, and the guy who needed to finish with a double bogey or better on the 18th to win the 1999 open and had a triple. Those are the two worst i remember.

Short Track Speed Skating at 2002 Olympics. Stupid sport, he knew he was slower than the others so deliberately kept well back and hoped at least a couple fell so he could 'win' a medal.
It was actually Australia's first ever Winter Olympics Gold too. Although Alisa Camplin won a legitimate one a few days later.
