While Max did race well, he received a whole heap of luck.

At Spain - track position is key. Ricciardo earned track position over Max by qualifying ahead and getting a better start. D.R kept Max at bay throughout the first half of the race. Then Red Bull made an error by switching Ricciardo to a 3-stop strategy, which allowed Max to inherit the lead and win the race

Without that error, Ricciardo would have won the race, without question.

Maybe he could have dragged Taylor down, we will never know.

Lewis Hamilton is a four time world champion. Well done Lewis mate. Expect a tweet from Scott Mitchell any time soon.

The elite motorsport. The best drivers driving the best machinery. The ultimate fusion of man vs technology.

We are also men who get hard watching men essentially throw sticks at a board, some would accuse us of following a pointless passtime.

At least the best players win at darts.

Give anyone with some driving ability a Mercedes and they would win the world title.

Exactly, it's not a level playing field

Not quite as simple as that. The difference between a good and bad driver can be 1.5 seconds a lap in the same car. Hamiltons teammate is third in the championship in the same car.

And if the best players win at darts, how comes Bunting hasn't won anything of note in the PDC?

Would Hamilton win in one of the lesser cars?

By and large it's the same car but there is clearly a team hierarchy.
Team orders and such things
The car is also fine tuned for the preferences of the first driver etc

Of course he wouldn't.
He is in the best car though because he's one of the best drivers.
Anyway this doesn't make it any more of a contest.
