Obviously Bradman numbers are outrageous but.....
He played 37 of his 52 tests against England
He only ever played test in Australia and England
In the modern era, in different conditions its hard to credit he could do the same

Asia would have been a very different challenge, but on the flip side, he never played some of the weaker teams we have now at home

My instincts are to wonder why Panesar is so high when he was merely OK, although when you think hard about it, who is our next best spinner of the era after Swann? Tufnell? Giles? Leach? Joe Root?!

True enough about weaker teams but I can't help but feel the numbers would be lower, significantly in all likelihood

I'd have to include viv
If you play Warne you probably want Healey
The batting doesn't really need gilchrist
I'd want to include wasim for the variety

Gilchrist was better for me.
In the sub continent I would have to bring Muraly in.

You could even make a case for Murali over Warne. His strike rate and average per wicket is better.

Healey and Warne just go together for me
With a strong enough all rounder you could play both

When it comes to a keeper, I feel an argument can be made for Kumar Sangakarra. Kept to Muralitharan, so I feel he'd be able to keep to Warne as well. Average of 57 odd with the bat and capable of long innings.

A lot of players could be swapped in and out as there is competition for most positions. For an all-rounder, this is a bit about Imran Khan:
Between 1982 & 1990, IK played 49 tests & averaged 51.08 with the bat, in the same time period Viv Richards averaged 44.65. Between 1982 & 1990, IK averaged 19.08 with the ball; in the same time period Malcom Marshal averaged 19.66. So basically, IK's batting average was better than the best test batsman at the time & his bowling average was better than the best bowler. There is talk about him as an all-rounder, he would have walked into any team on the planet as a specialist batsman or a specialist bowler
My controversial opinion is not to include Tendulkar - he just never did it for me. A must pick is Malcolm Marshall as he's my all time cricket hero (tied with Ambrose).

Very good case for Imran Khan. I cannot agree on Sachin. Probably the most naturally talented cricketer to play the game.

Sachin, as I said, just never did it for me - I know it's against the grain of the majority. I'm a bowler so that's where my heart lies, sod batsmen! Give me Ambrose, Marshall, Steyn, Akram, Holding, McGrath, Dev, Khan, Lillee, Thompson, Bumrah, Cummings, Bond, Afridi and so on. We overlook Rabada who has almost 300 wickets at just over 22.

His overall average was around 38 with the bat
Fully 20 less than sobers
a better bowler
The balance of the team dictates who you pick
