If you're giving that to Gando, you have to give that to Wright as well, who out-monstered him just a couple of days ago.

Hasn't won a major for almost 8 years, not been in a tv final for 6 years. Last TV semi in 2017, a drastic demise.
A handy reminder that with all the talk about Smith kicking on if and when he wins a biggie, we technically already had someone do that and it never really panned out. Though Adi had an Odi(ous) bloke in his way.

Also we now almost objectively live in a world where Jocky Wilson is only the third greatest Scot of all time, Mendham notwithstanding.

Potters Lake

Fair enough. Just thought Anderson was more known over a whole career for scoring and sometimes being shite on doubles but Wright was more consistency

Perhaps I am missing something here, but why hasn't Mike Gregory been mentioned in this thread?

Only if he wins 16 world titles and 16 world matchplays.

Thornton won fewer TV events than Adams, but had to work far harder.

Thornton's opponents in TV finals:

Fitton (95:28)
Taylor (98:58)
MVG (96:79 with a double start!)

Adams' opponents in TV finals:

Nixon (87:09)
Chizzy (93:42)
Deano (89:08)
Waites (95:55)
Kong (86:09)
Kellett (91:00)

I haven't included Adams's wins in the Finders Masters because I am not sure if those events were televised.

I get that averages aren't everything, but Phil Taylor circa 2013 is obviously going to be a tougher opponent than the likes of Deano, Kellett, or Robbie Green (sorry Randall).

Trolling aside, I am not sure if Thornton should be ranked above Adams all-time.

But his best wins are more impressive than Adams' best wins imo.

Kellett was world number one at some point. Chizzy we all know is a class player. Waites won the Slam and is one of the all time greats.

Sigh.

Adams' best TV win was against Duzza in 2015. Even that wasn't as impressive as Thorn's win over MVG at the Grand Prix imo.

That's what happens when a sportsman gets massively overrated. If the likes of Oche, Mardle, etc, didn't constantly overhype Adams' achievements and ability, others would probably not rank him below inferior players. Note, I didn't mention Thorn and HJ on that list because it's obvious they are just trolling.

The same thing happened with Mike Tyson in boxing. His fanboys were that insufferable that it was difficult for others to rate his ability objectively. In turn, he actually became a little underrated in all-time lists.

Adams failure to compete at the highest level is inevitably going to lower his rating
Other than morons like mardle desperately trying to big up the bdo
