I kinda agree with this. A decade ago I wasn't bored with the PL, the UK Open was still held in the summer at Bolton, and the Masters/World Series didn't oversaturate the TV schedule. Then again, Andy Hamilton, Justin Shite, and Wes Newton were all prominent players. So it wasn't all great.

I agree that the GSOD was better on ITV.

However, what really hurt the GSOD was the demise of the BDO. Even in the mid-late 2010s when the PDC had almost all of the best players it was still fun to see Hankey, Mitchell, O'Shea, etc square off against the PDC players. The banter across forums added to the fun. The meltdowns that you and Fanny had were legendary.

Now, it's just another PDC TV event with a slightly different format. It's a bit dull.

I also think the Group format and Best of 9s have become very dull, not helped by the 8 floor Qualifiers usually adding nothing.

I'd love to see the PDC change the Grand Slam, Euros and PC Finals into a proper series of 3 Tournaments like the Cazoo Series in Snooker. Where the qualification fot all 3 is based on the 1 year Ranking list.

I am suggesting that Darts should have a 3 Tournament End of Season Series like Snooker has with the Cazoo Series. You need to understand how the Cazoo Series works to get what I mean.

They are all picked from the Current Season ranking list which includes all Ranking events after the World Championship. The World Grand Prix is for the Top 32 on the list, Players Championship is Top 16 then Tour Championship is Top 8, and is the last event before the World Championship.

They are all Ranking events too, so doing well in the early ones can Qualify you for the later ones.

As it is not likely for 3 entirely new TV events, it would make sense for them to replace the other events. Also I think a 64/32/16 breakdown would work better for darts, and also mean the 33-64 ranked players don't lose their PC Finals pay day.
