Nobody with any sense would describe it as the greatest victory in the world.

Gilding' typical game was around 94 and 95, with the exception of three games where he averaged 88, 90, and 99 respectively. He was clearly playing at a higher standard than Waites managed at Lakeside 2016. Even Oche has described 2016 Lakeside as a bad world championship in the past btw.

It's all about clutch moments. Both Gilding and Waites are excellent in that regard. Everything else is just noise.

Yes a PDC major winner played to a higher standard than a BDO major winner. Not much of a shock.

Then you were incorrect to compare them then.

Not comparing them. Making a point that averages are meaningless at the end of the day. Gilding could have averaged 110 every round and the value of the achievement doesn't change.

So the Lakeside that Barney won in 1999 carries the same weight as the Lakeside Waites won in 2016?

No. But both are world titles

Waites was a weak world champion in 2016.

You know this. As does everyone else.

Showing Averages is meaningless unless having a bet on that market. Best data stat is the leg on leg one. This shows much more of what's happening in the moment.

Any statititions out there with anything similar compiled?

How many legs are won with / against throw, and number of darts used per each individual event:
9er
10-12
13-15
16-18
19-21
22+

Here is the first PDC event in 1992 and there are no Davroses. The TV screens glued together into a big screen effectively did the same job I guess.

But it seems that lakey was still using Davroses as late as 1998.
