Jeff Smith's run to the final sees him move into the provisional Top 96 for the UK Open, which would mean a first round bye in Minehead. Countback not applied

Re: 2020 UK Open
For some some reason there is no news whatsoever about what's going on at the 2 rileys qualifiers today

Alan Norris is there as an amatuer...
The format of these qualifiers should really be changed.

Losing tour card automatically means you become amateur immediately, mate? It's bullshit. The Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 10:10 pmEh? Why? He lost his Tour Card didnt he, why shouldnt he be allowed to have a go at qualifying?Greipel wrote:Alan Norris is there as an amatuer...

Qualifying should be still allowed, I never said the opposite. Just in other way, most likely somehow via the challenge tour.

Re: 2020 UK Open
You are splitting hairs. In this instance, "Amateur" just means "the rest of the world other than the 128 tour card holders".Greipel wrote:Losing tour card automatically means you become amateur immediately, mate? Re: 2020 UK Open
The whole point of the UK Open is that it's open to everyone, now that there are no ProTour qualifiers, you have to open the Riley's qualifiers to recent tour card holders

Former World Master and "World #10" qualifies as an "amateur" for the UK Open. Must be some sort of Lakeshite/Indiogat howler we can backdate for it.

He beat Hogan in the semis and Challenge Tour user Tom Baughan in the final.Fiss Plaps wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:12 pm Former World Master and "World #10" qualifies as an "amateur" for the UK Open. Must be some sort of Lakeshite/Indiogat howler we can backdate for it.
Where will Hogan turn up next? His dedication to this tournament is preposterous.

Here is the UK Open qualification tables with only 4 events to go before the cut-off for Minehead. Brendan Dolan closing in on Steve West for the Top 32 and a bye to Round 4. Simon Stevenson and Harry Ward nearly deadlocked for #64 and a bye to Round 3.

Re: 2020 UK Open
Steve West is lucky he will have his beast from the east money from a few years back, that's what will keep him in R4 if he stays there. New TC holders have got to be aiming for a R2 start, at least it's something realistic for them to aim for right at the start.
