Interesting point, didn't realise that. What skweezit says apart from that is true, although on the flipside UK ET qualifiers are on ProTour weekends which is convenient for those up near the top of the CT OoM (where I'm sure Asada will be if he doesn't win a tour card). That's the reason why Portela is doing the UK Q-School this time

Deadline for Euro School entry is January 1st. Maybe we won't see an entry list until then.
Somebody over the road said that Andy Baetens has entered. Plus De Vos, Labanauskas, van Tergouw… it's become an interesting bunch.

Good news.
It would be a waste if he stayed in the BDO. He's not going to give MVG or Anderson any sleepless nights, but he'll be a solid addition to the PDC top 32.

Indeed, in among the dithering it's easy to forget he's a really good player. I think the PDC will grind him down eventually, but on paper he's arguably a top 10 level player, will be interesting to see what he can achieve, can he win tournaments on stage and on the floor, can he make the Matchplay straight from the off? How high can he get in his first year of two?

Obviously the one to compare him to will be Bunting.thegentle wrote: ↑Sun Dec 23, 2018 7:20 pm Indeed, in among the dithering it's easy to forget he's a really good player. I wouldn't be surprised if there's another thrilling twist. Entering it doesn't mean he'll turn up.

I think it'll be a similar trajectory to Bunting. He'll go into it fresh and achieve a few good results early on but after a few hidings off the big boys and constant defeats on the tour it will wear him down eventually. Too emotional to not let it all get too much for him I think. He can have a really good first year though if he goes into it on form.

Aye. That crossed my mind.
I can see him backing out if he wins Lakeside. "I don't have the energy"

Maybe after third proper darts title he will afford to take a normal photo

And the uncharitable devil's advocate comparison would be to Ted Hankey:Fiss Plaps wrote: ↑Sun Dec 23, 2018 7:32 pmObviously the one to compare him to will be Bunting.thegentle wrote: ↑Sun Dec 23, 2018 7:20 pm Indeed, in among the dithering it's easy to forget he's a really good player. - Pretty old at time of switch to an increasingly young PDC.
- Has had the kind of success in the BDO that used to be considered career-defining, but needs to start working his way up from the bottom again in the PDC.
- Hasn't had an interest in playing even the BDO circuit year-round for several years, preferring to pick and choose his events, and is coming to a tour that pretty much forces newcomers to grind through every tournament on offer.
- Thrives on opponents crapping the bed before the first dart is thrown, and struggles when they just don't give a damn who he is or what he's won.
On talent alone, Durrant's at least as good as somebody like Beaton, i.e. a top 24 level player who might not threaten to break into the top 16 but who's good enough to qualify for nearly all TV events. But the warning signs are certainly there. Durrant in 2018 is a lot better than Hankey was in 2011, but there's no denying that the PDC tour has become an even more ruthless environment in the 7 years that have passed. Much like Hankey, it's possible that his switch will turn out to have come a few years too late.

Not sure if Asada is coming full-time trying to play steel ones just because he makes lots of money from playing soft darts. He's almost like Phil Taylor of soft darts.
And this year, I'd be aware of one more name in the Europe ones. KAREL SEDLACEK. Don't know much if he's gonna go there but if he'll do, he can make a mess out there. The match against Keegan was just wonderful and showed he has the balls to make it there.
Overall, just can't wait what we can expect there.
