Memories of that disaster make last night's obscenities seem positively encouraging.
Taylor loved the spotlight and other players fawning over him but even he was embarrassed by it. Last night was a horrible last 3 sets no doubt but not quite as bad as that.
Taylor did sound almost winded by it. Really uncomfortable viewing.
Taylor unplayable all week and Barney knew what was coming. 14 of the 16 seeds were English and Peter Wright appeared!

Lewis - Jenkins 2014 UK Open, 11-1 to Fatpot.
In fact, I reckon TJ would have about 7 entries in the all-time Top 20.

Jenks had beaten MVG in the semis as well.
The biggest ruiner of major finals there ever was.
Another two candidates: MVG 11-2 Clayton at the 2017 Players Champs Finals and MVG 10-1 Suljovic at the 2016 European Championship. Utter annihilations of first time major finalists that, while impressive stats wise, made for rubbish viewing.

That's very true, although it doesn't stick out as much. I guess expectations were low for that one, nobody really played well at that tournament

First year of Ally Pally and the players said it was hard going getting used to a real big stage

Completely forgot that one. Somehow sat through the whole thing at the time as well. There really must have been fuck all else on the telly that night. Must be the only PDC world final lower in quality and entertainment than 2012.

The Lewis vs. Hamilton final at the 2012 World Championship was poor to watch. They both needed an extra day off after their epic semi final wins. I really wanted a Wade vs. Whitlock final, and it was a damn shame that we didn't get it.

At least it was a short format, that game over 13 sets would have been depressing

This game was worthy of 13 sets:
Phill Nixon (86.10) 6
Niels de Ruiter (84.19) 4

They could both have been flying and it would still have felt stone dead. The circumstances killed it. For us, anyway. We are sensitive x
