I dunno, I kinda expect that putting Cadby on such a big stage at this juncture would backfire spectacularly in some way, either on or off the oche.

Hopefully not. He'd get totally slaughtered. The worst part about it is that large parts of the German fanbase are both very fickle and very vindictive. The abuse he'd be taking would be unbelievable.
Well obviously not now, since going back home he's stagnated, but before leaving the UK, he was looking really promising, even more so than de Zwaan. Who's to say he couldn't have gone on a long run at Blackpool or any of the other TV events and truly earned his place?

For the record, I know what everyone thinks of those exhibition games we've seen in the past when players have been absent from PL duty, but I think that would be a good idea for Hopp. Gando was having his back problems when the Berlin leg of the Premier League happened this year, if I were Barry I'd have told him to take it easy and have Hopp play someone in front of his home crowd

It's just an exhibition at the end of the day.

Which Barry Hearn has constantly said is based on merit, often yearly merit. Last year, he said Chizzy was left out because he hadn't performed well enough that year, same with Lewis. At least be upfront about it and say we pick who we want instead of goatturding a pile of hogwash.

It's about bums on seats.
In Germany hopp sells.
The euro win is possibly already enough.

For me the Premier League is just to long. I tend to get bored halfway through the tournament. I'm obviously wrong because thousands of people actually pay to watch.

Maybe a break half way through would help

Who knows!

The length isn't the main issue for me (although it probably is too long), it's that you inevitably get some meaningless games with the format. Still, it may not be a ranking event, but it features all the best players in the world, and is one of the most coveted titles for the players, so it's far more than a meaningless exbo

After the excitement of the world's Your always pleased to see the darts back and for a few weeks it sustains itself. After a while it just becomes a bit repetitive I guess.
Don't really know what my objection to it is really.

It most likely is going to come down to performance in the WC. I think there is a bit of malaise due to Lewis, Wade, Barney falling off and the promising younger players not really finding a solid foothold of consistency, or in the case of Cadby just being a drongo.

[ifm] Who would want to buy tickets for a darts tournament before any of the players have been confirmed, anyway. [/ifm]

They should be out on 1st October.... I'm keeping checks as I'm hunting a ticket for the Glasgow event as I'm intending to go there for Gary's home event...

No, no, no.

Beppe and Dreamboy501 were two different posters according to MH.
