It seems like players from Q-School who are not eligible for the pro qualifiers, (not finished in the top 128 of Q-School) will be eligible to play at Rileys qualifiers. So the moaning was for fuck all then.

Correct, it's all in this link
Players who competed at the 2018 PDC Qualifying School who wish to attempt to qualify for the 2018 Coral UK Open TV Finals should firstly enter all the six UK Open Qualifiers.

Entries should be made via the PDC Online Entry System before the deadline of 2pm on Tuesday January 30th

Following this deadline, the fields for each of the six UK Open Qualifiers will be confirmed, based on the PDC Tour Card Holders who enter and then topping up the field to 256 players based on a combined Qualifying School Order of Merit.

Any player who does not get into the 256-player field will then be permitted to enter the remaining Rileys Amateur Qualifiers from February 1 onwards if they wish to qualify as an amateur to compete at the UK Open.

Why they couldn't map it all out properly in the first place is beyond me but that seems a sensible ending to the farce.

Some qualifiers in:

Twickenham - Ian Jopling
Nottingham - Tony Mitchell
Wolves 1 - Mark Craddock
Wolves 2 - Liam Kelly

The top two both got to the second round 10 years ago. Jopling's a bit of a journeyman, some might know him. He's also a bit of a James Richardson which is nice -
Tony Mitchell sounds like a shroom love child.

Six qualifiers over the next two weekends streamed on PDC TV

Were they not streamed last year? Didn't watch any of the ProTour events last year

Think the streaming started after the Open qualifiers were over but could be wrong
