It would finally give somebody else the chance to win.... (Hopefully a certain Scottish World Champion or, if he decides to go, a certain legend who'll be retiring at the end of this season)...

Is it James Wade?
Is Wade retiring?

I'd imagine so around this time of the evening.
That was rhetorical....

Not sure what's the point in putting random players into a single WS event, but it's a big exbo anyway, so no problems. Gurney and Price thoroughly deserved this and will bring an interesting perspective to the tournament. I don't really mind Hopp but he's done nothing to be picked.

It's all about the same eight players every time, isn't it?

All three of them don't deserve it. No consistency, and thats's all we want, isn't it.

Hopp done fuck-all, and the other two had one mediocre tournament.

I dont know, Stran. Anyone? I think the Vegas prize money has been published somewhere. It may differ between events.

I'm glad they've mixed the fields up a bit. Keeps things a bit fresher.

I totally agree. Mixing in some second/third tier PDC players also adds a relatively weak link here and there to give the local players more hope of winning.

WS events prize money this year:

Winner £20,000
Runner-Up £10,000
Semi-Finalists £5,000
Quarter-Finalists £2,500
Last 16 £1,250 (this one not applicable to the Dubai event, I guess)

http://www.pdc.tv/world-series-of-darts ... er-in-2017

The PDC players presumably get all their travel costs paid for, so £1,250+ and a free holiday for the lower-ranked players.

I agree. It also gives a chance to emerging players to try their hand in TV events while also allowing us seeing some new faces in action with all due respect to the usual suspects.

I think this is a good move by Uncle Barry and his team which will allow the game to grow even further.

Everything progresses its only 4 years ago mvg was winning fuck all. Wright only hit form a few years back too even anderson .

The likes of part manely sholten stompe mardle mason jenkins etc couldnt keep going and new players emerge.

Taylor now on the rundown to retirement so of course uncle barry needs to start bringing through mew talent to see if it can spur them on.

I like the mixing up the field more. I understand you want the top players there especially the ones that are most frequently on TV as those are your faces for your brand as well as ensuring the quality of the play. With that said, why Max Hopp? Way over rated and has proven nothing except that he can occasionally throw a good standard. PDC putting way to much pressure on this unproven kid at this point in time.

Upside with Hopp there at least one North American has a better shot of getting thru the first round of the big event. Going to need the Jackasscklins to do the draw so the best colonialist gets that match.
