I hope the players ranked 28-31 get demoted soon.

How is Big Hendo in the top 32?

You probably won't believe this Senna, but he has won enough money to get there! Shhhh, it's a secret to everybody.

look at Taylor's projected ranking after the world championship. 9th  he's got a Matchplay title and World Champs runner-up spot to defend this season, that's why.

I've seen him play on TV perhaps 6 or 7 times. The only notable game I've seen him in was when he beat Chizzy at the Worlds. I presume he plays better off-TV.

It's the same with Gilding. Other than his run in the UK Open last year, I've not seen him do much on TV.

I would love a one-year system. It may not be feasible at this point, though. If all qualification was based on one year, Smith and Thornton would be way down the list surely.

Well YTD, MVG is top with £215k

Chisnall is 7th (£36,000)
Smith is 16th (£26,000)
Thornton is 37th (£11,250)

Long way to go in the year though.

I went onto Darts Database and did a filter on ranking money won between the 7th Jan (so it excludes the Ally Pally) and today.

That list above is Pro Tour winnings in the last 12 months.

ah right , but a one year list should always be a year in term of then to now not a list that starts specifically on jan 1st.

It certainly would shake the jobbers who had a lucky day out. Unfortunately, until Taylor retires I cannot see it happening.

In terms of qualifying for the Worlds, it is effectively a YTD list because its the last event of the year ;)

But yes you are right with that statement in general. They used to do YTD for the non-seeded positions at the Matchplay and Grand Prix which was stupid when you look back at it. A good run in March got you into more events than a good run in October, should never have been like that.

I remember that. It does seem mental looking back. It was probably done that way to incentivise players to switch, back when they cared about that. So that anybody switching after Lakeside would happily start at zero on the floor list like everyone else.

Have you ever read 'Planet Darts'? A book about Colin Lloyd's year on the PDC circuit in 2002 or thereabouts. An interesting read if anyone wants to find it, and has good nostalgia value all these years later.
