Are every single one of the bdo open events lotteries as well?
no no no no no Jamie Hughes could never lose 5-0 to Warrick Scheffer in a proper BDO ranked open because those are SEEDED. Now keep up.

It's not wrong though. With the lack of depth on the BDO circuit being seeded means you're guaranteed to avoid 90% of the actually capable players until late in the tournament, and the likelihood to be drawing the occasional unseeded local hero isn't very large. The lottery factor is that Q School has more than 40-odd players out of 400 who know what they're doing. :)

Astounding, some guy on TSOD has managed to get through the whole 8 days of this year's Q Schools believing that merit table tour card winners like Durrant only get theirs for one year instead of two.

Chiller. Who's got the Marge Simpson teeth grind?
He will be a big loss to the BDO, but pleased Duzza will get the chance to show what he can do on the Unicorn boards. Conan looks to be sweating on some results now as well.

Shame Lisa won't be getting a card, but she obviously loves the boards seeing some of the averages she has produced the last 4 days.

I can only assume Vince Tipple uses 56 gram darts and bent the wires back to Blade 5 specifications when throwing during their match.

So was it the Unicorn boards' fault that Jim Williams averaged 74 yesterday then?

A suggestion over the road for how to change the Challenge Tour playing format to deal with the long days:
First to 4, 2 clear, sudden death 9th. Keeps most games shorter but allows more play in close game.
That's not needlessly complex at all, no.

I do enjoy a good fantasy darts disaster format. Save it for the pentathlon pal.

Just had this conversation at league. Either you want to play darts or be on the lash. Granted playing the CT is not playing your local piss up, but you have to think why in the fuck are you there?

How dare you. The pentathlon is the pinnacle event FFS. The biggest test of darts players to do well in so many different formats.

I trust Wolfie to win the important title for the 47th time this year. All hail our lord and saviour.

Not really different to how a set in tennis works, no?

True, but what's the point in using it for a darts floor tournament? Not to mention that it probably wouldn't solve the issue anyway since the pace at which the tournament progresses is dictated by the slowest boards, and this idea would leave the most time-consuming games unchanged.

(That aside, tennis arguably needs a two-clear rule since it has no equivalent to throwing for the bull.)

I wouldn't limit it to 128, but there shouldn't be more than 256 for sure. The slowest boards are likely to be the ones which have a prelim game I guess, it would help a little bit. Anyway, it might not even be an issue later in the season as numbers drop (with potential spots at 14 Players Championship events up for grabs this was clearly a vitally important weekend)

Meh, semantics. Gray was never going to be great, but he was very young when he started, that's the only point I'm making

TSOD medical expertise, volume 376:
Also intresting to note that thus far only 3 of the new tour card holders have yet to earn any money this season Mike van Duivenbode, Dave Pallett and Michael Bernard. So he was indeed right in claiming he had mental problems ATM.
