"He had an amazing sense of humour and knew how to entertain a lot of people. However, he was also a dictator, he thought he owned all the darts tournaments and had power over everything and everyone. But then he had a bad customer the Dutch who, unlike most English players, did not let themselves be taught," said Stompé.

"He was absolutely not an objective referee. Martin Adams was a great friend of his. If you had to play against Adams, Fitzmaurice would start nagging you half an hour before the game to deliberately screw you up. I was too nice for it myself, but I've seen several players walk out angry," Stompé laughs.
There's also a lot of quotes about him in RVB's autobiography (yes I have it and have read it)

Although it backs Stompe up, I'm sure RVB's words would be taken with lots of salt here
Nah, Fitz was a cunt.
It figures. Here he is after Caris battered Spineless in 1924. The least sincere offering of a hand until Taylor's lettuce leaf for Mason... what a friendly, welcoming place the piss palace seems to have been.

I have that photo saved from ages ago with the name: ''those dark years before he matured, spineless gets battered by caris, and fatz here''.
All other information I had to guess. It probably wasn't in 1924 if I'm honest. :D

When Phil Taylor was celebrating his 1992 World Championship win over Mike Gregory, watch the stare that Fitzmaurice gives him. He didn't seem amused, to say the least. Regarding Raymond van Barneveld, he used to call Fitzmaurice "Two Face".

1992... we can't simply blame the split for having driven him mad then.

Why all the vitriol towards Fatz? I call bullshit on the rumours about him. There must be more to those stories than we know about.

He was kind enough to let Chris Mason sleep in his hotel room during 1999 Lakeside, after Mason had a blazing row with his then wife Lisa after beating Martin Adams in the quarter finals. Fitzmaurice told this story on an official DVD release around 2003 time, after Embassy were forced to stop sponsorship.

I think Gerwyn might have suffered another head injury

'I know Michael has reached his peak, same with Peter,’ Price told Metro.co.uk. ‘I don’t think Jonny [Clayton] has peaked yet, I think there’s a lot more to come from him and a lot of the players.

Michal Smith, Joe Cullen and certainly myself. As well as I’ve done, there’s a lot more to come.’
