I think he's underrated in terms of what he could do at his best. Tony David was the best BDO player by some distance in 2002, as he won their World Championship, won the Australian Grand Masters, won the World Darts Trophy and won the Doeland Grand Masters.
I don't think this is appreciated as much as it should be, primarily because the Embassy title came at the beginning of the run rather than the end.
What the fuck has this got to do with your obsession with Wright?
He's posting for the sake of posting.
I was reacting to another completely off topic bullshit post by posting some more completely off topic bullshit. After all the thread is "random darts stuff"

Isn't that an old post of mine?
Yes.
He's that desperate for attention.

I do not like him, but he is the greatest darts player to ever live. The myth that he has competed in a depleted field in complete rubbish, especially in the past 10 years.
He won World Titles when Part, Dudbridge, Manley, Painter, Jaws and Mardle were at their very best between 2003-2006.
He won World Titles when Barney, Terry Jenkins were at their very best and Wade and Lewis were emerging between 2006-2009
He won a World Title and loads of Majors when the likes of Anderson, Whitlock, Lewis, Wade and MVG were at their best between 2010-Present day.
I have probably left out some top-class players in those timelines, I am sure King, Thornton and Baxter deserve a mention somewhere as well. I was watching the history of the Premier League the other night, and it is easy to forget how good Terry Jenkins was in 2008, and how strong Wade was back then. Likewise with how good Jaws was in the early stages of the Premier League. Revisiting Barney in his 2006 prime was a joy as well.
Even if Bunting, Wright and Chizzy come into their own the next few years, to bite at the heels of MVG and Lewis, I would not put it past Taylor winning another World Title. Cannot stand the smugness of him, but cannot also help but admire his talent and longevity

Good 'ol Vinnie..........
Van der Voort tempers expectations around Sherrock: "I don't see her or any other woman winning a televised tournament anytime soon
She was closer to winning a TV event than the bad back cunt ever was and ever will be
Van der Voort was beaten pretty comfortably by Barney in the 2007 UK Open final. Barney cruised to a 16-8 win, having already beaten both Taylor and Lloyd by 11-4 scorelines.

You mean a woman beat a man on the stage. Why don't we hear endlessly about it?

From the 1990s darts world, I miss the old atmosphere most. That rowdy, working class atmosphere in low roof buildings like the Circus Tavern, but weren't the mass booing on finishes like today. The feeling when coming up to a Circus Tavern World Championship was special. It was a very different feeling to today. Today it's more sanitized somehow, less personal, less cosy, but it does have better depth in quality. Gerwyn Price has some of the old school feeling though. Price brings that energy, edginess and controversy, and he can play darts at the very highest level of play when on top form. Yet a lot of today's "fans" boo him all the time.
