I checked his averages on Darts Orakel. So far in 2023 his overall average is 87.21, which puts him at 153th in the world.

I know averages can be misleading, but surely if he was a slam-dunk top 64 level player his overall average would be higher?

Agreed. Top 64 is a stretch in current form. If he got a tour card he would be odds against to keep it.

The only non-TC holder in the top 40 of the averages list this year is Baetens, who is ranked 36th.

I think we all agree that Baetens is tour card worthy and should win a card in the future.

The rest of the WDF top-ranked players are not really out of place outside of the PDC.

You are probably right but Klaasen has only played two PC games this year so his average says nothing. He might play in more events if he could succeed at the enormous challenge of entering the bloody things.

Anyway, I'd say Berry and Landman (and Boulton, hi malt) would be a fair comparison point for Klaasen as cardless lads making a mark.
