Mitchell wasn't a top 32 player even back then. Regardless, you are citing stuff Bennett did over 3 years ago. Since then he hasn't really done much, even when compared to other players around his age range.

Thus, unlike 3 years ago he's no longer the red-hot youth prospect that he was hyped to be. Other youth darts players are showing just as much potential, perhaps even more so. Littler in particular. Given that he was hyped to be the youth player to watch in the future 3 years ago, it's safe to claim that he hasn't really lived up to the hype.

Again, Bennett was hyped to be the dating child prodigy. As good as any youth in history.

However:

- He hasn't come close to the performances MVG put in at 17.

- He lost at Ally Pally in the JDC final and at Lakeside in the Youth semi-final stage.

- A younger dude is 17 places above him in the DT OOM. He's also not outright better than numerous other youths in his age range.

If Bennett was the wonderkid he was hyped up to be a few years ago then surely he would have at least achieved some of the above; number 1 on the DT OOM, Youth Champ in the PDC/WDF, performances comparable to the ones MVG had in 2006, etc. Yet, he hasn't. Therefore, he hasn't lived up to the aforementioned hype.

Will he go on to have a great career in darts? Possibly so, but there is also a chance that he'll fade away or have a merely ordinary career in the pro ranks. I'd personally back against him being the next Taylor or MVG.
