Has there ever been a bigger fluke of an innings than Pope in the First Test?
He's made 100 runs in the rest of the Series.

Root doesn't want to bat 3
With England's kamikaze openers you can't blame him

Yeah. I wonder how long it'll take them to admit it was a mistake.
They took Matt Renshaw who's a specialist Opener to NZ and he's carrying the drinks.

They might as well have taken you to NZ. I’m sure you could carry the drinks as good as Renshaw.Captain Hobo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:28 pmYeah. I wonder how long it'll take them to admit it was a mistake.

Our openers have generally put on decent stands. The collapse tends to come thereafter.Randall wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:21 pmWill keep him in the side foreverCaptain Hobo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 1:55 pm Has there ever been a bigger fluke of an innings than Pope in the First Test?

I think Pope and YJB have to come under scrutiny at least.
Brook will return ( boy have we missed him in India, he would have been Englands leading run scorer in my opinion)
I think you have to give players a chance and for most part Bazball has worked, but England have to have some more Bazballers ready to slot into the team.

I would say our batting line up is better than the Aussies. Their bowling is superior though.Randall wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:46 pmThe middle order is as weak as oursCaptain Hobo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:28 pmYeah. I wonder how long it'll take them to admit it was a mistake.

CH posted the latest table for the 2025 Test Championship, which is different to the actual rankings.
I think Randall was getting confused.

Re: cricket thread
Aha I knew I'd seen a list
Lost 2 against a weak aussie side at home and 4 against weak Indian team away
Certainly grounds for concern
