That's a shame, it was an okay event with a decent crowd

Translation of the tweet, for reference:
"No Zuiderduin/Finder Darts Masters anymore. Another institute that is forced to close its doors. A real shame that there is no space for it anymore. I will miss it!"
EDIT: According to a reply to the tweet, the title sponsor pulled out, so the event is cancelled due to lack of funds.

The prize money froze to death in the 90s, much like the BDO itself so that was good.
Aside from that, a natty format mixing legplay with setplay and a crowd(!) that could almost be confused with the living.
This was no World CatasTrophy. I think the players genuiney enjoyed this one, plus it carried quite big ranking points. So if morale has any room for another bruise. Howling.

Surely if the the catastrophy is binned next there must must be a tipping point reached. The BDO has been lurching on for years but with 2/4 "majors" binned I cant see it surviving to this time next year.

It carried the same number of points as the WDT and Masters did, i believe.
Who won it in 2018? Can we expect some crying that they dont get chance to defend the points?

I sacked off watching it about 4 years ago to be honest.Rogg wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 1:46 pmThe prize money froze to death in the 90s, much like the BDO itself so that was good.

Somebody seems mystified that this can happen when the PDC is able to fill the Ahoy arena...

I'm afraid we are all BDO products, Stevie. It seems to happen at birth. Not sure if it's possible to unplug from this ferociously invasive mushroom matrix. Maybe try hanging an inverted PDC logo on a wall then chant the name of Graeme Stoddart at it.

Other than lifting the restrictions placed on players for entering Q School, has Des actually done anything of note thus far as BDO Chairman?

He saved an event for one year in 2018 (cancelled for 2019) that barely anyone had entered but just so happened his missus had entered it.sennafan24 wrote:Other than lifting the restrictions placed on players for entering Q School, has Des actually done anything of note thus far as BDO Chairman?

All he seems to do is make bold promises to the Metro and go on jollies around Europe. The Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 2:52 pmHe saved an event for one year in 2018 (cancelled for 2019) that barely anyone had entered but just so happened his missus had entered it.sennafan24 wrote:Other than lifting the restrictions placed on players for entering Q School, has Des actually done anything of note thus far as BDO Chairman?
