to have the chance of winning he has to run the risk of losing i imagine.

against his nature from the looks of him.

Games 6 and 7 will be interesting - Gelfand has White two games in succession.

make or break for him maybe.

from all the analysis they seem to be playing well trodden/conservative structures that they are both very familiar with.

you would presume one of them, probably anand has something sharper prepared that will be the difference.

This is likely - saved up for Game 10 or 12.

I long for a return to 24 game Matches where more risks were taken as they had longer to catch up if they fucked up.

12 games is not long enough - players dare not blunder so take the safe route.

Yes well, the World Championship is one thing but it cannot compare to the Rhyl Congress from Friday to Sunday this weekend.

Getting some cracking games in US Open this year - Round 7 about to start and coverage is astonishingly good.

Link here - live coverage starts in about 8 minutes.

Tournament details here: http://www.uschesschamps.com/

12 players, all play all. 11 game round robin.

Look out for Hikaru Nakamura's game and Gata Kamsky. Ray Robson is a kid, GM at 14. Great player.

Think you might enjoy this. 6 rounds been played so far - 5 to go.

spent most of the afternoon watching this series.

much longer series than the current one, including adjournements in some cases.

more confrontational as well, body language and eye contact all adding to the spice of it.
