Can you change your set of darts during a match?Knots & crosses wrote:nope. As far as I'm aware.D & B wrote:When playing matches, is there a rule that states flights must be same colour and design?

Has anyone ever used a mixture of darts during a game?
For example, if you are regularly filling up the bed would a thinner third dart help you score a max more consistently?

I recall reading somewhere about some player in the pdc whose darts were all different weights. It might only be fractions but cannot remember who it was.

that would of course depend on where the other two had landed. Would seem like a fankle, considering your grip most likely would differ on the 3rd dart.D & B wrote:Has anyone ever used a mixture of darts during a game?

Re: What flights are you currently using
it was peter manley's darts that were all different weights until he got a set made by unicorn. he never threw them in any sort of order either.
you can change darts during a match. anderson done it when he played with either the smooth or black darts, he came out after a break with his old style.
peter allen always used to have 4 darts, now they were identical and he said the extra dart stopped him needing to pick one up if he dropped it, and also kept him holding a dart whilst he threw his 3rd dart, same as the he is holding a dart for the 1st two. so if he is allowed to hold 4 darts, no reason why anyone could not have 4, 3 of the same, and a really skinny one of similar weight so go for a tight shot at double etc.

interesting, could help for a player who tends to lunge with his 3rd dart to keep the same rythym.Terry Kenny wrote:it was peter manley's darts that were all different weights until he got a set made by unicorn. he never threw them in any sort of order either.

scott mackenzie from hong kong has that gimmick he uses for when he goes for match shot, he puts his metal set
down and switches to another identical set, but gold colored. his nickname is the alchemist. (get it?)
he played in the 2011 pdc worlds and lost to artut. he didn't switch sets but they were on the table.

my local asda has a little section with some random sports stuff in, and a small darts section. all the darts are big brass monsters, managed to spot some stems they were selling. same as above, but a pack of 15 for £1.50. hardy the deal of the century i know, but it would cost you £2.20 online plus postage, worth a look if you only need a few stems.

when gary anderson first signed with unicorn he started that tv tournie his new sponsor's set, wasn't doing so well and after a break, came back on stage and finished out the match with his old set.
