Did those two lads not play the game before?
Or have a few practice runs before the recording of the show started?

Never go on the road!

Terrible attempts. Maybe it was the first time. I remember the longer that programme ran the more the contestants had been practising.

They had other similar shows over various consoles generations
There was one where this kid knew “any cheat code” or “trick” in the game to help out struggling players

I.e, he looked it up on the web

A PS2, thousands of hours of GTA San Andreas, Spy vs Spy and FIFA 2005 on that.

I recently discovered an arcade game place not 10 minutes from where I live. They have arcade games from 70s 80s 90s and some new ones. Loads of pinball machines too.
It's on an industrial estate and only opens 3 days a week. All the games are set to free play.

Sounds like NQ64 in Birmingham
Aside from the fact they aren’t free to play 😅

One of the first ones was a prehistoric escape room

The first line was simply you are in a room or some such

I remember playing one in primary school where you were in a house trying to catch a mouse. Have spent years trying to find it for the nostalgia but fucked if I've even been able to find out what it was called.

I remember a friend playing a version of that in the 2000s on the PS2.

Probably this version:
