Thanks oche. I collected 343 finals. I'll start posting the final list soon.
Nice one. I've found something else which was on American TV (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Darts_Challenge)

Interesting. Seems that was a part of the US Open festivities that May. I'll add it. 👍

ROGG i have a reply. With an interesting added bit

Hi Chris

I vaguely remember the match on Sky TV.

TV H2H challenges weren’t unknown back then and in earlier years I think Bristow played Wilson and Deller in made for TV challenges for filler on specific sporting days, probably things like the Cup Final or the National.

From my records this one took place at the Bradley House Club in Uttoxeter in March 1995 with a £2000 winner’s prize. It was filmed for later transmission rather than live.

Taylor won 5-1 after Priestley had led.

Media reports at the time suggest it was Rod’s commentary debut.

Hope that helps.

Fantastic! :) Thanks to you and to him. I will add it. Sounds like those other occasions would have been pre-PDC.

I don't remember that challenge match at all. At the time, I would have been watching Benn vs. McClellan and Eubank vs. Collins in boxing, and also worrying about Manchester United without Eric Cantona, not to mention the Sega Megadrive games, and the snooker that I used to watch all the time back then. I was also into tennis and Formula 1 back then as well.

Interesting that it wasn't broadcast live, like the pre-split days for the most part.

That's brilliant. It seems that Taylor won 4-2 rather than 5-1 having read that very detailed report.

'The previous week Dennis had triumphed over Taylor in the UK Matchplay'.

I'm confused. The 95 UK Matchplay, where Priestley did indeed beat Taylor, was in April 95 from what I can tell, and this challenge match was in March. Yet the article says the Matchplay had already happened.

He must have the date of this particular match wrong. The article isn't dated?

Perhaps PT13 will know more

^Oche also had it as March 1995 from a different source. But that can't be possible, unless the established dates for the old UK Matchplay are wrong. That finished on 10th April 95 according to everything I've found.

I found this for the 1995 UK Matchplay. The quadro board classic. No date on this but still nice to see.
