2024 World Matchplay
Littler already on £15k just behind this lot, might be in a position to put his feet up in certain events after all

Bit of a shame that. Strength in depth is steadily improving in German darts but they still don't have their hero.

Tbf how damaging is the new system to them? Weren't they seeded for most of last season? In any case, I suppose one of the upsides to the new rules is that it doesn't give anyone a leg up based on nationality, even if it does give the top 32 a leg upDeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 9:38 pmThe change of the Euro Tour rules will decimate the prospects of both Clemens and Uter.oche balboa wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 8:23 pm World Matchplay race

Would still expect to see those two make a lot of Euro Tour events as they'll be seeded in the rump qualifiers

- Schindler was seeded last year, however he isn't be now. If this year had last year's rules, he'd get the Host Nation invite this year alongside Clemens.
- No more freebies means they have to earn their place thus harder work to get back in the Matchplay places.
- Projections currently have the two in the following positions in qualification cut-offs
- ET5/6- Schindler- 10th, Clemens- 16th (just but shitting himself in case De Decker or Rydz make ET3/4 tomorrow, which would have a knock on effect for every event below this)
- ET7/8- Schindler- 12th, Clemens- 16th
- ET9/10- Schindler- 17th, Clemens- 18th
- ET11/12- Schindler- 16th, Clemens- 18th
- ET13- Clemens- 16th, Schindler- 17th
Long story short, both are cutting it really fine for automatic qualifications from ET7/8 onwards.
That said, they're very lucky that the second half of the year is very top heavy on non-German venues, meaning Clemens would've needed to go to the qualifier anyway. Schindler is worse affected imo, as automatically getting 2.5k earlier in the year would've done him better to get back in the seedings for later events.
Long long story short, both are a bit fucked imo.

Re: 2024 World Matchplay
Being seeded is probably a net benefit, but it's not the be all and end all considering you can still end up out of pocket (at least in terms of the OoM), and considering those just outside the seeds would fancy themselves to qualify and earn a guaranteed £1.25k. It's a straight bunfight now for both of them, it's gonna be close between those lot on the fringes (I'd expect Littler to make it comfortably in the end, which won't help!)DeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 11:48 pm- Clemens was given blanket invites to all German Euro Tours last year. Would be a bit presumptuous of him to start pulling out of events before he's even qualified for this, qualify for Blackpool and then put your feet up

Re: 2024 World Matchplay
Something which I don't think has been mentioned...
Dirk van Duijvenbode is in serious danger of missing this.
- Smudger is only 1.5k behind him on the Main OOM
- Bunting is only 5k behind him on the Main OOM
If both overtake him, Bunting becomes a seed and DVD moves to the ProTour list.
DVD is currently 7k outside the spots on the ProTour list.
The only thing that will save him will be the Euro Tour. He'll absolutely be at every one of those until Blackpool and win 3 or 4 opening round games before then will make him safe.
But even having the conversation that DVD will possibly miss majors is indicative of how far he's fallen in less than a year.
