Tbf women can compete with men in darts, I've always thought (especially on the PDC side) that the existence of gendered competition was more as a way to encourage women to take part rather than for reasons of 'fairness', but regardless of that, do you really think trans women would go to the lengths they do, all the medication, all the legal stuff, possibly even surgery, all to pick up a few lousy bob on the women's darts circuit? Laughable...

Men have proven better hand eye coordination than women meaning they will be better at darts
Even if they weren't women are being denied opportunity than deta has fought her entire career for.

Well that slight disadvantage your average woman faces clearly isn't insurmountable, or else no woman would be able to compete with the men ever. I dare say all the stuff trans people have to do in order to transition is going to help them neither. As I say, I think the existence of women's darts is probably as much for social reasons, there's never been anything physically to stop them competing in a game where physicality is almost a non-factory, but I guess the traditional image of darts wasn't very woman-friendly

Even if there were no advantages biological women are being denied opportunity by biological men being allowed to enter.
Winstanley would have been at the women's Matchplay earning money and getting a bonus from her sponsor.
The pdc denied her that by allowing a biological male to enter the field.

Well played to Deta for coming-out and speaking her mind. May be a controversial piece of writing to some but I'm glad she got her feelings out there.

I'd have had more respect for the post if she hadn't have tried to use female sex-specific issues as an excuse for the lower standard of play. Those are performance issues that would affect some players, some of the time. They aren't responsible for poor technique, including hers, or for the obvious fact that a small fraction of women play serious darts compared to men.

Women's darts is now generously overfunded in order to help overcome cultural barriers and increase participation. Instead of complaining about a possible advantage for trans women in a non-contact, closed game in which some people get drunk to improve their performance, maybe just focus on getting more girls and women playing it properly. My suggested slogan is "Throw like Beau, not like Victoria".

This, I don't believe there has ever been any official hostility towards women playing darts as there has been in football, but it's the cultural attitudes which have discouraged them from playing. If we were being totally 'fair', women's darts wouldn't be a thing (the viewpoint espoused by the PDC for a long time before they decided it was worth it financially). Have a women's circuit by all means, but I don't see how allowing trans people in it is going to discourage people from competing
