As per darts, tour card holders are under contract elsewhere so he had to apply for special permission or something.

Now it gets muddy. Barry Hearn was not impressed and phoned up Channel 5 who then dropped the whole idea? Then Jason Francis (says oche) posted (why?) the private phone call he'd with Hearn afterwards. In summary, it seems Channel 5 are a bit pissed off.
Thanks for the info.

The guy tried to take a bite out of Hearn by the sound of it, or at least that's how Hearn seemed to interpret it.

If you scroll about 10 tweets down the page you can hear the phone call. It's in a few parts.

Indeed, very interesting.

I assume Francis leaked the recording of the call to O'Sullivan's Dad or posted it elsewhere and O'Sullivan's Dad re-posted it?

I don't know but that could be it. Oche said that Francis leaked it. I wondered if initially he sent it to Ronnie himself to show him how the idea for this tournament had fallen apart, and then from there it made the small leap to Ronnie's dad. The guy, imo, sounds wildly out of his depth.

It felt like longer.

Hearn has the perfect voice for organising a diamond heist. That's not really relevant but I thought I'd say it anyway.

Now I'd like to know what Bobby George said that has created this 'racism' controversy...

Feel sorry for Jack Gobby Garwood from online darts who has put a lot of effort into the seniors from the floor events to the big ones. Mars Barrs threw the poor fella to doing interviews with Elrig Rowlands whilst he got the juicy interviews with Mason and MVG, the bastard

Garwood is the best one of those guys IMO. He has his head skewed on and seems more knowledgeable

I do like Garwood the best of them. He plays and referees darts and is level-headed about everything.

Barrs _is_ very knowledgeable about darts, has a lot of energy, but with him everything is an angle, he's a self-admitted sell-out and he has some really unrealistic ideas he just won't let go of. (Also, he likes wrestling and talks about it, which I think is a huge character flaw in a grown-up.)

Back on the topic of seniors, I hope this mess is just a temporary set-back. The seniors tour seems to have developed its own players and stories separate from the original big names. Howson and Gates are the two obvious ones.
