Re: TV listings from the olden days
Thursday 28th May 1964.
The Outer Limits... my word. Now that's a weird series. 'The Zarbi Misfits' is about mean spiders.
Surprised to see that it made the UK all the way back then. This ep first aired in the US on 30th December 1963, only five months earlier.

Aye was the whole thing. They overran their contract by 45 minutes too and got fined for it. And most of the people with the glum faces at the end ended up working for the new station ffs, fuck Fred Dinenage is still knocking around I believe.Rogg wrote:I think I just saw it for the first time. Interesting bit via the above link on the possibility of a second ITV channel - ITV2 - starting up in the early 70s.

Aye its why a lot of old tellies had a "ITV2" button. I haven't read the article yet but I assume this references that fact.Rogg wrote:Interesting bit via the above link on the possibility of a second ITV channel - ITV2 - starting up in the early 70s.

Fucking hell.
"Extended coverage would be possible for a number of sporting events of all kinds. The interests of those who like sport often conflict, on a single channel, with the needs of schools or housewives or children or general viewers."

The only old telly I remember well had numbers 1-9 on it. Thin silver buttons in the top right corner.

I don't think I've ever been in the presence of a black and white TV, be it alive or dead. I remember seeing them for sale in Woolworths though oh no

Saturday 5th June 1971. BBC1, BBC2 and ITV Anglia.
Briers looked like Alan Partridge at a glance.
Anglo-Italian football on Grandstand. That competition can't possibly be real.
Cracking Doctor Who and, oh dear, the minstrels are back.
