Can't argue with that.

Anyway the only notable telly thing this week is Doctor Who's 60th birthday on Thursday.

I'm looking forward to BBC4 on the night. A colourised, 75-minute cut of the original dalek story.

Saturday 21st November 1964.

59 years ago today. The daleks were such a huge success that they are back for a second story.

This time they are on Earth for the 6-part thriller 'The Dalek Invasion of Earth'. The final episode will land on Boxing Day and feature the first departure of a companion.

The cover of the Radio Times this week in 1993.

Doctor Who is back! Apparently. For a Children in Need special.

Hmm. Not sure if it's the Eastenders themed thing they did. I'll have a look.

Yes it is.

Wednesday 22nd November 1989.

34 years ago today, the final Doctor Who story of the original series begins. It's part one of the three-part thriller 'Survival'.

In two weeks' time, it will all be over. Here's how the show ended after 23 years, on 6th December 1989:

It was shown on BBC1, no less. It will move to BBC2 in 1997, then to Channel 4 in 2004. Not unlike Lakeside. BD'Oh.

A nicely yellowed Radio Times page showing the first episode of Doctor Who.

Plus the typed running order for the various items on BBC TV that evening.

Sunday 11th + 18th November 1979

Grave news. 'Mrs Columbo' is upon us.

Interesting to read. Columbo ended forever the year before, 1978. Mrs Columbo is sold as the solution to fill the gap.
