It was all down to the 2nd match thinking back on it, The lad I played exceeded his running average and was throwing well and I managed to win it with over an 80 average, If I had lost that then perhaps my night would have ended earlier than it did.clarkyfromcov wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 7:28 amThought you threw some great darts after such a long lay off DBG and all in all a good day at the office- You can only beat what is put in front of you but that was a very weak field last night as only 5 of the 24 players averaged 60 or higher with 10 averaging 30s and 40s, lowest average at Coventry on Tuesday was 55daveboygreen wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 12:24 amI will take winning more games than I lost but disgusted at my averages, The rustiness showed with all the missed darts at doubles I had and my knee gave in half way through my 3rd match so it was a minor miracle I managed to carry on and win the group, My balance was totally gone and everything was a struggle after that, 6 months since I last threw a competitive dart I was not expecting much but the fight in me is clear to see, I didn't get rolled over in any game I played tonight and could and should have won every single game I played so that is something to look at as a positive, Now I just have to rest up for a few days and see when I am able to have another go.
As for Odd Job...Fucking prick, His first lot of efforts he didn't do anywhere near as good as I did tonight and I have a fucking leg brace on and can barely walk, take your pick now lads...Who do you really think will win between me and Odd Job??
I thought my knee would hold out for the night given it had not given me a lot of grief the rest of the week but I soon found myself having to adjust my balance which in turn made it difficult to throw with any consistency plus any practice I put in during the week was 99% on scoring so it come as no surprise after the night that my finishing was so shite.
Still though, More positives than negatives to take from it after not playing anything in the way of competitive darts for over 6 months and won more games than I lost and should and could have beaten every player I played on the night I will take that, Not sure when I will have another go at it as I have holidays and other stuff going on and need to take it easy with my knee so practice is and will be very limited.
