Good list

I admit Merkx being that high is a surprise but a pleasant one

Littler, Nijman and Berry have won cards via the CT/DT. Somebody like Kist or Hendo can still grab the 2nd CT spot too.

Most of the others will do Q-School I'd think. Many are on the Challenge Tour.

Has Raymond van Smith been playing any Modus this year? Haven't heard anything of him since the Worlds, although I understand these ratings take into account results from the distant past

Some strange entries in there. Penhall is definitely not 6th and Steve West is a better player than Beau, Boulton has always ranked higher than Koltsov when they’ve both been on the tour as well. Maybe Beau constantly playing against shite lowers her levels it’s hard to place her above some of them. Merxk isn’t top 20

Penhall absolutely dominated the Aussie tour, which these ratings seem to place a lot of weight on even if it's a much weaker circuit than it's been in recent years

You have to remember that these rankings mean absolutely fuck all due to them not playing in the same competitions or against each other all the time

Yes. The likes of Penham and Greaves would have too high ratings because of playing weaker opponents

Same doesn't go for Merkx however. Maybe not top 20 but it's a good list to see who is possibly underrated

I guess there's no such thing as a list which accurately shows the good-ness of players relative to each other anyway. At best we can use them as flawed estimates of something that's highly subjective.

So when Bunting won the Worlds in 2014 it could only be subjectively argued that Taylor and MVG were better players than him at the time as they played in different codes?

I've seen these sort of models applied to other sports and they have produced some utterly baffling results. They miss a lot of variables.

Claiming MVG was superior to Bunting in 2014 could be perceived as a subjective judgement, but it's common fucking sense really.
