Italy had a very good team when they almost beat Alcines and Noguera of Spain. I remember clearly of that match because Spain was on my acca back then...

Good that he qualifies automatically, you never know what can happen in a one-off qualifier

Their team last year was nowhere near the best possible 2. There was 2 who seemed to win a fair chunk of games at Q School and had some decent averages, Krassen and can’t remember the other one, I think they can definitely win a game
As Greipel says they pushed Spain close one year, I remember another year they played really well against a Canada team who were in inspired form, so here's hoping they can produce something decent

The selection criterias for each of the Nordic and Baltic teams will be as follow:

Denmark: Vladimir Andersen will team up with the best Danish player in our rankings, unless a Dane plays on the European Tour before the cut-off.

Finland: The two best Finnish players in our rankings, unless a Finn or more plays on the European Tour before the cut-off.

Iceland: The two best Icelandic players in our rankings, unless an Icelander or more plays on the European Tour before the cut-off.

Latvia: Madars Razma will team up with the best Latvian player in our rankings, unless a Latvian plays on the European Tour before the cut-off.

Lithuania: Darius Labanauskas will team up with the best Lithuanian player in our rankings, unless a Lithuanian plays on the European Tour before the cut-off.

Sweden: The two best Swedes players in our rankings, unless a Swede or more plays on the European Tour before the cut-off.

If it's Kantele again I will do a fair amount of wrist slitting. Bring in Teemu Harju please

For Iceland it has to be Vitor Charrua

I presume the Asian teams will be formed the same way? No idea what Perez is doing this weekend (the Asian Tour is returning tomorrow!), but if he gets his visa sorted and wins a game, surely he'll qualify automatically for the Philippines?

Can't find anything on the PDC website, but Wiki says the nations ranked 5-16 will be seeded in the group stages. Currently, the standings are like this:

England: Michael Smith (1) and Rob Cross (5)
Netherlands: MvG (3) and Noppy (8)
Wales: Price (4) and Clayton (7)
Scotland: Wright (2) and Gando (23)

Belgium: Dimi (10) and Kim (29)
Germany: Clemens (19) and Schindi (27)
Northern Ireland: Dolan (26) and Gurney (28)
Australia: Heta (17) and Whitlock (40)
Ireland: O'Connor (38) and Barry (42)
Austria: Suljovic (34) and RJR (54)
Poland: Ratajski (21) and Kciuk (79)
Canada: Jeff Smith (63) and Campbell (64)
Czechia: Gawlas (48) and Sedláček (102)
Spain: Justicia (78) and Martínez (89)

The rest have at most one tour card holder, the best of whom are Jose for Portugal at 15 and Razma for Latvia at 36. Although France don't have anyone on the rankings yet, of course Labre and Tricole are both safe on tour for the time being, as soon as they both secure a win, they will both be ranked.

We could also feasibly see a Dane, a Lithuanian or a Croatian come through their regional associate Euro Tour qualifiers to accompany Andersen, Labanauskas or Krčmar, which would give them a ranking and potentially push their nation into the top 16, but for now I think Portugal and France are in the box seat

My question would be how do they decide the L16 draw in a fair way.

I mean if he can't get his UK visa sorted, he won't have a PDC ranking, so would they give him an automatic spot in the team on the basis of him having a tour card rather than give the spots to the top 2 Filipinos on the Asian Tour (if indeed Perez isn't one of them, he might well play it and end up there for all I know!)? I suppose it would only be fair to reward Perez for trying his best to make it on the other side of the world

A bit like the Grand Prix, with the four seeds kept apart but anyone else able to draw each other would be my guess, there could be anyone coming from the group stages, it could be a bit of a mess trying to seed the last 16 otherwise

As they are seeding 12 nations in the group stage, then I assume they will build the last 16 like this?

Seed 1 v Winner of Group 12 (ie. the 16th seed in old money)

Seed 2 v Winner of Group 11

Seed 3 v Winner of Group 10

Seed 4 v Winner of Group 9

Winner of Group 1 (ie. the 5th seed in old money) v Winner of Group 8

Winner of Group 2 v Winner of Group 7

Winner of Group 3 v Winner of Group 6

Winner of Group 4 v Winner of Group 5

This may clarify a couple of things gentle. Some dates at least. From the PDC article yesterday. https://www.pdc.tv/news/2023/03/09/worl ... -announced

A Latin America Qualifier, which is set to feature the likes of Brazil, Costa Rica and Guyana, will be held to determine one place from May 12-14, while the Portuguese Qualifier will be held on April 1 in Setabul to determine a partner for Jose de Sousa.

Nations who will be represented by players from the PDC Order of Merit will see their teams confirmed on Monday May 29, with the top two ranked players invited to compete for their country.

Nations with qualifiers from the PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit will see their players confirmed on May 1, while nations in the PDC Nordic & Baltic region will have a cut-off of June 5 following the PDCNB weekend in Finland.

The Czechs have never won a game at the World Cup, aside from a loss to China they've had some horror draws, you'd think they'll buck that trend at least, although with the seeding system they'll back themselves to get out of the group
