Eddie had substance abuse issues in 2001, so probably not him.
Jericho or Benoit would have perhaps been the best options.
Sadly, Brock was some way off from debuting, otherwise he would have been perfect.

Austin and Benoit had great chemistry in the ring. Their bouts in May 01 are some of the best TV matches I've seen.

I don't think i actually answered this. Sorry Senna.
Ha, I remember watching WCW on ITV. It was shown around 1994 and 1995 when I was 7 or 8. I recall watching footage of the Yeti's debut and a wrestler who came out with a rabbit (which I found out years later was David Sullivan)oche balboa wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 2:55 pm I don't think i actually answered this. I started watching wrestling when i was in Primary School when i got Sky Television in 1991. My favourite was British Bulldog and the Legion of Doom. My dad took me and my brother to watch the wrestling in 1992-93, Missed out on tickets for Summerslam 1992, I loved the Royal Rumble of that year when Ric Flair won it .By 1995 i actually stopped watching as it was losing it way & i couldn't understand why Shawn Michaels was the best wrestler they had (I do now) so in Secondary School i missed the start of the attitude era. My youngest brother started watching wrestling around 2000 & my mate was a big Steve Austin fan. So i watched it then and my brother grew out of it by 2005. Since then i have a look around what's going on & read up on the attitude era etc. As for WCW i remember watching it on Saturday afternoons on ITV before the football started and thinking that these were worse then WWF and not really giving a toss about it and was surprised that Hulk Hogan went there in 1994.
I know you asked a simple question lol

IIRC it was shown on ITV Central, which out of the TVs in my house only my brother's TV received.
WCW Worldwide.

Started in mid-1999 and ran until WCW's demise in early 2001.
I stopped watching it at some point in 2000. It was pretty terrible.
It was highlights from Nitro, Thunder and WCW Saturday Night IIRC.Jimmi wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 7:37 pmWas that what it was called?sennafan24 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 6:56 pmWCW Worldwide.

So you'd get stuff like Jim Duggan vs Regal from Saturday Night then Hogan vs Flair from Nitro.
Again, it was dire
They were setting record attendance figures in late 1998 with Goldberg as champion, but by mid 1999 they were struggling big time. I'm not sure when exactly their TV shows became unwatchable, but it certainly was by the time Worldwide started to air on Channel 5.Jimmi wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 11:08 pmWCW in a nutshell from 99-01, dire.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 7:41 pmIt was highlights from Nitro, Thunder and WCW Saturday Night IIRC.Jimmi wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 7:37 pmWas that what it was called?sennafan24 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 6:56 pmWCW Worldwide.

Russo style wrestling also wasn't what WCW's core audience wanted to see.

it would be interesting to see an alternate universe where WCW won the Monday Night Wars and the WWF was the one that went out of businesssennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 9:33 pmRusso style wrestling also wasn't what WCW's core audience wanted to see.
Truth be told, Austin vs McMahon was far more important to WWF's boom period than anything Russo booked on the undercard. I've long believed that if Austin had been unable to return from his neck injury in late 1997 that WWF's boom period would have never occurred, even with Russo and co booking. So no chance his booking was going to turn around WCW in 1999.
I think WCW would have imploded eventually, even if the WWF's boom didn't occur and their business declined to the point where they went under. I suspect that Bischoff and co would have carried on booking the same acts in prominent spots to even decreasing returns (Hogan, NWO, etc). I think they would have always fumbled with Goldberg' at some point too.
