Undoing the sunset ending was unforgivable for sure and yet I'm glad that the new 3 eps exist. I enjoyed watching them on Christmas Days at least. They were the only OFAH I saw 'live'.

Btw, as I'm sure you're aware, Sullivan actually hedged his bets in the 1996 episode. The brothers didn't sell the flat at Nelson Mandela house in case they decided to bring the show back at a later date.

I don't think I'd ever thought about that. He always had half an eye on a comeback then.

It's actually only 5 five years later that the show comes back but it seems like much longer for some reason. There's four years between the two series of Fawlty Towers.

After extra thoughts I don't think this will be suitable for a traditional 'quiz night' gathering. It is a one on one thing really where one person picks one episode, watches it and gets interrogated about it. We can still do it though if you want. Do a few episodes each and add up the scores.

I have an OFAH quiz book. It has 10 questions on each episode, not including the specials. Plus there are sets of questions on various OFAH related topics.

The questions are often about small details, so it might be best to pick an episode and watch it beforehand.

Abomination is a bit far fetched but they were certainly inferior. The one where they go to France was good in parts.

All three episodes had their moments, or at least the odd moment, but they were inferior overall and clearly not worth sacrificing the 1996 ending for.

There is probably even an argument that the show should have ended before 1996 (just with a similar ending)

Maybe. Didnt they drag it out for years just with Xmas specials?

Aye, its final series ended in early 1991. They then did Christmas specials up until 1993 before returning for the final 3 episodes during Christmas of 1996.

So by the time it initially ended the show had been running for over 15 years.
