In a 2021 Q School thread DBG gave some really big long shot options.. one of them was Stuart White:

"Stuart White....Can't say I like the bloke but has plenty of experience and if on form will trouble most. 200/1"

So probs a solid if unspectacular player

I do remember tipping him at a big price to get a tour card.

Something about the UK open, Seems to be a lot of players that have previously qualified for it have great runs in the qualifiers or manage to qualify via this route several times...Stuart White being one of those.

You have 2 events at Coventry? What date is the 2nd one?
Sunday 19th Feb is the second Cov qualifier- also looking after Solihull on Sunday 5th
What's the Solihull Riley's like mate? Decent venue or like Norwich with piss freeflowing out of the toilets into the venue? :D
Never set foot in Solihull Dave - I have done Cov since 2014 but never Solihull
Never been in either venue, Was always Wolverhampton and Worcester but both are now closed.
A name from the past but sure it was you who came over to Coventry to play Barry French - I assumed you played at Riley's

Christ...I practiced with Barry before and after he qualified for the UK open, I don't recall us going to Riley's in Coventry unless there was a poker event on there as well at the time, I practiced with him at The Red Lion in Erdington and after that we went to some poker events together, He stayed at my house in Stoke for a couple of days before the UK open to practice with me and also stayed at my place in Oxford a couple of times but was more interested in playing pool than darts then haha.

I went with Barry to the Coventry open/Midland open one year I recall but that was not at Rileys.

I am getting old Dave :D Barras Club and Canley Club were where the 2 events you mention were held - People on here will hate me for saying it but I do remember you as a very decent player

Would have been the Barras Club, Not sure if I ever played at the Canley Club, Did the Midland open have a different venue between 1999-2004?

From what I can recall the Saturday event was always upstairs at the Barras Club and the Sunday event was always at Canley Club

I have memories of it being upstairs and everytime I went outside for a smoke Tommy Aldridge was holding court, Chain smoking and acting the clown haha.

DBG feats seem to date back 15-20 years ago. Mine go back way more. What you done since then? 🤣

As for Stuart White, great player still. For his darting ability he is the worst chalker ever. He's going on the list
Friday 19th May 2023 - Finally free of the bull shitting no mark of a dart player.

Suspect team: CT1 Filip Sebesta - Greg Ritchie - Jeroen Mioch - CT2 Sean Fisher - Charlie Martin - CT3 Owen Bates - CT4 Thibault Tricole

Your mate Clarky knows how good I was and I don't hide the fact that I have suffered a lot of health issues over the last few years and before that, hand surgery etc, Even when I played Q-School and the first 4 CT's 3 years ago there was a consistency about my play all be it a standard a lot lower than I can play or expected to but looking back on it afterwards I knew I was making the same mistakes in just about every game and it was my first ever attempt at Q-School or the CT's

On the plus side of it I was consistent with only one average below 70 over 8 days play, If things in my life had not have happened then I would have had another crack at it last year or the year before and im certain that what I learned from the experience would have shown an improved performance, On the negative side I was left feeling I did not play anywhere near my top level and let too many things stop me from being as relaxed as I am at other events, I should have only had one set of darts with me and let my Mrs keep a spare set incase anything happened to the ones I was using but I kept switching between a new and used set, I should have made a decision about wearing my glasses or not and stuck to it instead of wearing them then taking them off or not wearing them then putting them on before a match etc but it was was it was for me...A marker as to what I needed to do and improve on for the future.

15-20 years ago I didn't give a shit about anything, Same probably as a lot of good young players, Nothing to worry about...Not even money in my case, It is when you start thinking about things or you have something that impacts you playing darts then mentally you are not on the board throwing with total confidence, Its a hard thing to get and maintain in darts when you simply just can't worry about anything and just throw and enjoy it without a care in the world.

Good post Dave. You sure you're not me? I rib you lots of times on here but I don't go out of my way to abuse you

Now take a look at your recent replies to me on other threads and return here and read your post above again. I'm doing my best not to confuse you.

Cheers mate, mate ;)

How many already entered the events at Coventry Clarky?
67 for Coventry, 90 for South Benfleet and just over 100 for Victoria is what I have just been told for this weekend Dave - obviously still time for this numbers to go up

There is a 150 player limit at some of them. Ok thanks. No idea if any of them tend to get near that kind of number at all.
