The WDF World Title is nowhere near as relevant as you want to believe it is.

It is because of the specific qualifying criteria of the slam. It should be about event winners

It would be more relevant if the PDC gave a winner a chance to play in the Slam

To an extent both lists will be similar. Could be Berry, Littler, Greaves... There will be plenty of interest in non-card holders for sure. They just won't have qualified via the BDO/WDF route anymore.
Do the same sorts of people go to Wolves year on year? If so, Berry might get a good reception after what happened the last time he qualified...if the crowd have recovered from their hangovers by now

It a shame it's at the tin pot leisure centre on the outskirts of Wolverhampton again. The Civic is a superb venue only the Winter Gardens is better in my opinion.

The criteria should be changed to include more PDC event winners and fewer floor qualifiers. Almost everyone agrees with that.

Why should the WDF come into this?

Scrap the floor qualifier you have 8 spots. Extra event winners dont take up 8.

If Asian and American winner or CT and DT are all awarded a spot I don't see WDF being much different in quality and interest

This discussion has been done to death. It comes down to this. Why should the PDC offer an opportunity to players who have had success in another organisation's events rather than their own events when it will not drastically if at all improve the quality or marketability of the event?

We've established that the two WDF players most likely to generate added interest will likely be a part of this year's GSOD. Elsewhere, would Duff or Plaisier drastically increase the quality or generate more interest? Would they fuck.

I would like for Duff to be invited.

Purely for the forum banter and Oche's inevitable meltdown on Twitter.

But I'm not going to pretend they are good enough reasons.

I thought the Civic was finished this year? Loads of articles saying it's done in June

Unless they think they've outgrown it, which is nonsense. Especially as they go to the shitty ghost town in Leicester for the Grand Prix

Looks like they aren't going back. Like you say The Civic reopens in June so looks like they have decided not to go back or the council don't want them back (Very Unlikely as it's a money spinner)

Slowly (the PDC) getting there with the selection criteria and i can understand why the actual amateur (WDF champions for example) side is not given places as its now a ranking event however PDC non ranking tournament event winners do get a place.
A big attraction of the GSOD was to see the amateur side (which was back in the day the BDO) compete and it was great for darts when Scott Waites won as a BDO player.

Hinges winning it may have been 'great for darts' but it didn't do me much good. I made a whole range of loud and bitter exclamations in pubs across the land.

Lot of great Grand Slam moments have come from BDO participation. Something PDC should consider
