I think Bristow did 53.36 against Manley at the 1999 World Championship. Manley averaged over 90 in the same match.

Even the infamous French vs. Nagakawa preliminary match at the 2009 World Championship saw them both average over 54.

I've just remembered a worse one. Scholten at the 2008 European Championship, struggling badly with a shoulder injury, averaged 51 something against Suljovic. Scholten was never really the same again after that. A few weeks earlier at the 2008 World Grand Prix, Scholten was still playing pretty well against Adrian Lewis.

I mean, finding 32 competent players over 50 isn't the problem, their non-televised events prove that. But if it just means trying to shove in yet more "legends", then yeah, disaster looming.

Regarding my possibly slightly hyperbolic* "done by 2024" prediction: Does anyone remember if it was said how long Jenningsbet have signed up for as the headline sponsor? I vaguely recall three years, but I could be completely mixing that up with some other sponsorship deal in darts and I can't be bothered to trawl through the senior darts Twitter account. (A news archive on a website, what's that?)

* Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they're down to just the "World Championship" in 2024.

A better idea is that you fuck off back over the road, or drink yourself to death. The second option is preferable.

I can't believe we didn't come up with this ourselves though. The Seniors Premier League. I mean of course.

Is this of any use regarding the Jenningsbet deal? I don't have the strength to search further.
