I've never seen the point in a night watchman. If a proper batsman hasn't the ability or confidence to survive a few overs he shouldn't be there

Those pitches in NZ were fucking pathetic, 1st match would have been a draw too if not for some poor batting from England.
Adelaide pitch was also lifeless, hardly any wickets fell during the day.
3 Tests against Kiwis start next Thursday. First is a Day Nighter at the new ground in Perth. Hopefully that is a contest, as the MCG pitch for Boxing Day is going to be as dead as ever as well.
To continue my rant, Test cricket outside Aus/Eng/India is just about dead. Changes need to be made ASAP. No one wants to watch 5 day grind-fests on flat pitches featuring substandard teams.
My suggestions. 4 day tests with 100 overs a day, get some life in the pitches, and a new ball every 40 overs. Shit batsmen trying to protect their 50 averages can get fucked.
