I would say it's good for the game but I don't believe that anymore. Growing the game is now the opposite of what's needed. Not before we get some competent people running it who are looking out for the interest of all players in the system (all 128 tour card holders + Challenge Tour, Development Tour, Women's Series + collaboration with the amateur game)

I think things are "Better" but more cooperation is needed between PDC, WDF, ADC across all levels.

When did it become the in thing to start referring to Taylor as a 14 time World Champion?

It makes even less sense when you consider the two they are neglecting are the only two he won with a fully combined field.

I don't think it did. Probably the author just looked for world darts championship and ended up at the pdc wiki.

A fair explanation - but it's not the first time I've seen it in recent weeks.

Of course, lazy journalism is the norm these days so it doesn't really surprise me.

It became the "in thing" when ignorant people act like the PDC World Championship was the only World Championship that ever existed, even ignoring the pre-split World Championships.

There are very few actual journalists worthy of the name in recent times. Most are just mouthpieces of billionaire propaganda, and they don't tell people the real truth. They don't do investigative journalism either, as someone who did would know the history of darts and the pre-split days of the World Championship. One of the best journalists died in December 2023, i.e. John Pilger, who predictably got smeared even in death because he didn't sell out to big money.

Can't make it all about Cross, I suppose. I have faith.

Nice little teaser for Malt, though:

"Littler may one day encounter a player born before 1958, but such a man does not currently hold a PDC Tour Card."

Luke Littler has been named alongside England footballers Jude Bellingham and Alessia Russo and F1 driver Lando Norris in Forbes' Under 30 Europe Class of 2024.
