I’m hoping Edgar carries his good day today into tomorrow’s event but I can see him saying he lost cos he got too tired having to play 5 matches today

I reckon he will. He's in the same stable as Gurney, Jamie Hughes and Ricky Evans, they seem to have backed him whilst he was on the slide. He'd probably be in the top 5/6 at Q School but as you say about Barnard etc, better players have vanished.
Yeah I reckon Edgar has no chance tomorrow. Think he'll do well at the last chance Worlds qualifier though, always does well there. He's got through it last year, why not again?

I really dont know why you all get your knickers in a twist about who gets through this. Most of them will be dumped out in the group stage and anyone slightly competent might get through to the knockouts.

The other option would be to have the next 8 winners of floor events which would be every other player to win one except Barney as he's the lowest ranked player to have won one.

This would honestly be more fair and not sure why they don’t fill out as many places as possible with pro tour winners even if they only win 1, but I do enjoy the qualifiers so won’t complain
Nobody would have a huge issue with that I guess, at least they all won an event. With the nice added side effect of Barney missing out as the 33rd player.

Plus barney's exclusion makes it perfect
I understand it's the pdc giving opportunities to players down the rankings but there are better ways than stinking up a "major" event

The Grand Slam has been a ranking event since 2015.
Now take a guess when was the first year they started doing a floor qualifier for the Slam.
It makes no sense though, the Grand Prix and Matchplay have been ranking events since inception and they havent had a one-off qualifier for them for either a) years or b) ever.

It will have been because the PDPA would have had a good 'ol moan about another big ranking event without a floor qualifier for its members to get into it.
