It's got easier you mean.
Anyone who thinks Chisnall, Suljovic and white etc are troubling Bristow need to have a lie down
Aye, it's from the same school of thought as:

"Call me crazy, but I think John Walton in 2001 would have beaten Taylor in a unified field"
Someone actually came out with that ?

Yes.

Someone called "meetthefeebles" on DoubleFinish. I believe that it was also a common opinion on the BDO fanatics over xmas when they were doing those BDO champion vs PDC champion yearly head to heads.

The idea of hankey beating him the year before or him bottling out of playing Les Wallace are equally laughable. Oh and Tony David... He's another one who would've battered Taylor apparently. So that's 3 years in a row Taylor wouldn't have been world champ...

Yes I've read that one elsewhere although with so many throwbacks around certain places it's hard to remember where. The other one was 'Taylor wouldn't have been able to handle the pressure at lakeside'- despite him winning it twice before the likes of Adams could even qualify.

Essentially would be like a Wes Newton style player in this era.

Barring a few anomalies, Bristow typically averaged between 92-97 at the BDO Worlds from 1984-1986.

That's a higher standard than what anyone does at Lakeside today, and a respectable standard for a decent ranked PDC pro. When you factor in the equipment disadvantage that Bristow had in comparison with today's players, it is clear that a prime version of Bristow would be very competitive in today's game.

Top 5, but going down with the continued emergence of more quality players these days.

Where is the hunch back of Stoke-on-Trent in this discussion? I'd take Phil over Eric every day of the week.

1 MVG
2 Phil
3 Gary
4 Eric
