spellman & robbins up 2-1 in 501
they've switched over to the long format in the finals now,
so it's a race to 3!

Cricket would be good to play but I can see why it doesn't work as a spectator sport

Aaja Jarpin won the women's event. 19 year old girl playing some very impressive darts. Averages of 82 and 78 in the semi and final. Definitely a player to watch.
Aaja Jalbert*

When I'd seen her on streams she'd normally averaged high 50s or low 60s, so looking a reasonable player but not one to get really excited about. But this could be a sign of improvement.
It was probably her best streamed average.

It's at least her 2nd women's title. She won in Cleveland in 2022 (averaging 71 in the final to beat Paula Murphy). She's 19 and I don't know if she's going to college. This is President's Day weekend, so maybe a good opportunity to travel.

Like a lot of children of dart players she has a solid technique and can count. Her father's up in the ADO rankings and her stepmother plays, so they probably drove there on Friday. (It's a 6 1/2 to 7 hour drive from Gorham, ME).

As well as winning the 501, she lost in the final of the women's singles cricket (where she also played Feiertag) and had the 2 highest averages of the tournament. She won the women's doubles cricket (with her stepmother).

She was the top US girl 4 years in a row, and played in the World Masters girls in 2018 and 2019.

* First name pronounced Asia. Last name with a hard J and rhymes with Prince Albert. She's from Southern Maine. French names are extremely common here in Maine (and there used to be many more French speakers) but they're usually not pronounced the way they'd be pronounced in French.

Fantastic post, thanks for all the info. I will be following her for sure.

Watched her in a few cricket games this weekend. Ladies final she started off very strong but she regressed and lost 3-2 to Tracy Feiertag. But she had the top 3 MPR averages in the event (3.41, 3.38, 3.11). Being 19 years old her level is really promising.

see that one of the guys brought in to sub against us in our darts league last year (have I ever mentioned that we won the championships?) made the luck of the draw finals in this weekend's virginia beach classic tournie.
he's won their singles before. nice guy.

always liked luck of the draws.
gives one a chance to get that proper alcohol base down to build upon for the next two days of play.
have partnered up with gary mawson (top 16) & john part (top 4) in past LOD's.

cool info. will watch.
cameron took out spellman in yesterday's 301 comp
(david also won the blind draw)
at the white mountain shootout.
interesting thing about this annual tournament,
it's put on by the minuteman darts league out of boston, massachusetts
yet it's held in new hampshire and it's not right next door either.
