Gunga Din wrote: Sat Feb 22, 2020 10:53 pm So I went and had a crack at the Liverpool qualifiers today, paid my £8 which included a pint so that wasn't a bad deal.

Ive never done anything like this before so wasn't really sure what to expect. I haven't even played for a pub team in about 15 years, any darts i've played have been chucking at a board in my spare room. Im not a terrible player, i usually play against an app on my phone and usually average somewhere around 60-65 against it. i also dont play that much, some weeks i wouldnt throw a darts all, i might play for an hour a couple of times a week at most. this week, i tried to practice for an hour a night, mostly on my finishing.

Got myself registeredned in earlier in the week, and got signed in at 10.30 and then there was a lot of sitting about. I chalked a couple of games before i was up. The 3 games i chalked varied a lot in standard, the first game was the best of the 3, both players were decent and were getting down to doubles after 5 and 6 visits, which made me think i was way out of my depth. but the next game, 1 of the players was decent, the other one was pretty poor, and the 3rd game was atrocious, i think the highest checkout was 8, which reassured me i was far from the worst player there.

finally got on the board at 2.30. Lost the bull, lost the first leg, infact got battered in the first leg, was left on 200 odd, then won the next 2 legs playing decent darts and hitting my double at the first attempt in both legs, lost the next and that was 2-2. the 5th leg i broke the throw after the fella i was playing got to d16 while i was still mid 200's, but i took out 64 in 2 darts while he was stuck on D2, and his head went in the last leg and i won it comfortably. only missed 2 darts at double in the match.

in the 2nd game i played, the fella absolutely hammered me, i lost 4-0, he started the first leg 140, 140, 100, and he never really let up. i got 1 dart at D12 in the 4th leg , but missed and that was that. stayed watching til about 6 the went home as her indoors wanted to go out
Well Done mate. You gave it a good go.

Matthew Porter @MattPorter_PDC
It's for scheduling reasons with ITV's other sporting commitments

Chris Mason @Chris180Mason
Starts 3.30pm until 11pm as there's racing and rugby I do believe, gonna be an epic session of darts

Marathon session.

Will it be the longest in the history of TV darts?

Nah, the BDO have done some terrible things on that front.

+ the PDC Worlds played a full set of Last 16 games (best of 7 sets) in one session on New Year's Day 2004. The advertised session length was noon til midnight.

Good memory.

I probably watched most of that session as well.

Same here sir. Simon Whatley v Lionel Sams first up.

I only really remember one of those eight games though. Mardle 3-1 down and weeping with effort.

That is far too long, I usually begin to lose interest approaching the 4 hour mark, sometimes even on PL night's i will save the last game for Friday so this session I will definitely have to record and break it into two.

R1 & R2 draw should be some time after the Euro Tour next weekend.
2020 World Grand Prix Lucky Dip winner!
2x 2019 Q-School Lucky Dip winner!

Does the Euro Tour event count towards the seedings for the UK Open?
(Not sure if there'd be anything realistically to play for anyway)

In actuality, I was completely wrong. The cut off is today:
2020 UK Open Finals
Cut-off date: February 23 2020
Seeds: Tour Card holders will enter from round one onwards depending on their position on the main Order of Merit as follows:
97 – 128: first round
65 – 96: second round
33 – 64: third round
1 – 32: fourth round
Qualifying Players: 128 Tour Card Holders
Top 8 from the 2019 Development Tour Merit Table and Top 8 from the 2019 Challenge Tour Merit Table who remain PDPA Associate Members in 2020. Associate Members from 2019 who become Full Members for 2020 will qualify as Full Members and further places will be offered to players from each of the final 2019 OOM Tables using the Development Tour first, then the Challenge Tour one player at a time, until all 8 places are filled.
16 Amateur Qualifiers (non-PDPA Full Members) from specific Events
2020 World Grand Prix Lucky Dip winner!
2x 2019 Q-School Lucky Dip winner!

Both as valuable as the Lakeside piss pot!

They published the draw on the corresponding Monday last year so it could well be up tomorrow.

It must be really hard and (especially) confusing to do the draw for the first 3 round of the UK Open all at once.

Thanks to Burton. And wiki here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_UK_Open

Quite an array of choices for TV games in the early rounds.

Burton DeWitt @bsd987
Brendan Dolan catches Steve West for the final bye to the 4th Round of the UK Open, while Simon Stevenson reclaims a bye to the 3rd Round after catching Harry Ward.

Asp only 250 behind Gurney and must have a lot less coming off in the near future.

Waites, Hamilton, Heta, Ashton, Sherrock and Keane Barry all probably locked in for TV games first round irrespective of who they play. (depending how many of the 32 are televised)

Has Riley's vs Riley's happened on the main stage earlier any time? Big chance for this with Sherrock now.

Sherrock vs Vindaloo would be a good match.
As would Burness vs Huckvale.
Those 2 ties for me would be the only riley's vs riley's ties that would be main stage quality.

Field's confirmed: https://www.pdc.tv/news/2020/02/24/2020 ... open-field

Big Boris Krcmar not involved. If it's a personal reason, fair enough.
