A few months. Guessing its harder to serve papers to an address that is probably only open a couple of evenings a week.Zeyes wrote:How long has the BDO's postal address been a Boys & Girls Club?

That's really embarrassing from the BDO.
Not sure how they can call the tournament a success when the prize fund got cut an awful lot.... and barely anyone attended the games. The BDO know they're fucked, because nobody is going to invest in a company with average dart players, especially when the PDC is still dominating. The only person I could see investing is Hearn, but he would only invest for the women and youth system.

No point investing even for that. They've got the youth covered between their own development tour and the JDC affiliation, and could surely do something for the women less expensively and better on their own if they really wanted.

it is £23k more than he would have got if the tournament hadnt gone ahead.
I don't know what these BDO players are moaning about - they get global exposure for a week and a bit of money.
if it is just the PDC then these players wouldn't get anything.

He should use some of the £23k to take them to court for breach of contract.Randall wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 12:59 pmThe contracts maybe?Steve wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 12:58 pm£23K is not bad.Tommo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 5:55 am Paul Barham

I'm no lawyer, but both parties signed a contract stating the BDO would pay £100k to the winner and they have not done so. From a legal perspective, surely the BDO don't have a leg to stand on? Must be worth spending a few grand for the potential £77k reward?
I know the BDO are financially skint and most likely don't have £77k spare cash. But they may have non financial assets of significant realisable value, such as property for instance, which may be sold in the event of a court ruling against them.

The contract must be legally binding

Re: O2 Side Room Festivities 2020 (Jan 4-12)
the players were clearly told there would be a reduction in prize money ahead of the tournament.
£23K is hardly a surprise, so I don't know why Warren came out and said he was disappointed this week.
£10K for the women is pretty much what they got last year, and since they hardly play any darts anyway it is pretty easy money for them.

I'm sure the last minute panic letter will be immediately torn apart in court if Warren wanted to take it that far. Anyone with half a brain would be disappointed if they were told with a few days before the tournament that they would get significantly less prize money for winning than the winner did last year.Steve wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 2:50 pm the players were clearly told there would be a reduction in prize money ahead of the tournament.

I'm sure none of this is relevant though, after all Des said the tournament was a success...
