2020 Grand Slam of Darts
Cut-off date: November 5 2020
Seeds: Top 8 qualified from Order of Merit (one drawn per group)
Qualifying Players: To be confirmed
That looks the only thing. Now theres an OoM thing and the TbC means for sure the bdo is out the door. If they arnt dead by that point.
Prize money the same for all events which is a little unusual.

Youth Championship amendment no doubt due to the "uproar" over the Humphries v Gawlas final.

All this does is that it gets more card holders and more players around 22-23 years old into the World Youth doesn't it? Or I'm thick.Fiss Plaps wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:28 pmYouth Championship amendment no doubt due to the "uproar" over the Humphries v Gawlas final.

Yeah, you're right. I've misread it, apologies. For some reason I thought it said the age was being revised down. The Thorn wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:32 pmAll this does is that it gets more card holders and more players around 22-23 years old into the World Youth doesn't it? I guess it's more to free up the top young players from having to juggle the Dev Tour and the ET events it frequently clashes with. No need to play Dev Tour just to keep their World Youth opportunity available now.

Think it was only Murschell out of the tour card holders who missed out on the World Youths, and he missed two weekends, one down to the World Cup.
To be honest though, there are 72 spots available through the Development Tour, even 3 weekends should be plenty to make it for a tour card holder

The DT has the same eligibility rules as before, Humphries was 23 going on 24 this time last year. Bunse was already 24 by the time he played Q-SchoolFiss Plaps wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:34 pmYeah, you're right. I've misread it, apologies. Just checked, for 2020 they're clashing the DT with the ET on four dates, the fifth is the World Cup again. Probably a way to consolidate the tour schedule into fewer weekends. Based on that it's pretty straight-forward that they've had to introduce something to not keep forcing the young card holders to choose between the two tours.

Yeah i thought they said they were planning on giving the other tv majors a bump in money to make the gigantic gap to the World's a little less gigantic.Gidra wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 9:45 pmLast one is not a good signEmulsfier wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 2:02 pm 2020 Grand Slam of Darts

BTW, I wonder how many Brits are going to take part in the Euro Tour qualifiers for Associate members, now that it's no longer restricted to just the top 32 CT players but they'll (presumably) have to travel to the continent in order to play, rather than a UK-based qualifying alongside tour card holders.

I notice that Twitter made the point of noting free entry for Associate qualifiers, were they not free before?Zeyes wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 1:24 am BTW, I wonder how many Brits are going to take part in the Euro Tour qualifiers for Associate members, now that it's no longer restricted to just the top 32 CT players but they'll (presumably) have to travel to the continent in order to play, rather than a UK-based qualifying alongside tour card holders.
How many qualifiers they have at a time is important too, haven't checked the schedule (is it out yet?), but there needs to be 3/4 associate qualifiers at a time rather than one on the Thursday of most Euro Tour events
They've also made another minor change to the European Tour seeding system:
Pretty pointless stuff, not as if the ProTour seedings are especially rigidSeedings for European Tour Events will be as per Premier Events but the top and bottom halves will alternate across Events. To clarify, in odd numbered Events on the European Tour the number one seed will be in the top half but in even numbered Events the halves will switch positions.

Re: 2020 PDC Order of Merit Rules confirmed
Didn't realise that it was the ProTour list which determined the first two HNQs rather than main OoM. Shouldn't make too much of a difference for Germany, their events are mostly early in the season so Schindler, Bunse and hopefully Kurz won't get too much time to usurp Hopp and Clemens, maybe for the Austrian or Dutch events it will?

Re: 2020 PDC Order of Merit Rules confirmed
There's long been 'an OoM thing' in the sense that the highest 8 qualifiers on the main OoM are seeded in the group stage, I take this to mean that's the same as before. Speaking of the Grand Slam:Emulsfier wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 2:02 pm 2020 Grand Slam of Darts

A sign that BDO players are still likely to be involved in Wolves? Or just an oversight on the PDC's behalf?Prize money won by Amateur Qualifiers (who are not PDPA Associate Members) in the UK Open or BDO representatives in the Grand Slam will not count towards the Main Order of Merit. For the avoidance of doubt, PDPA Associate Members who have not qualified for the UK Open through their Challenge or Development Tour Order of Merit position are permitted to participate in Amateur Qualifiers for the UK Open

Re: 2020 PDC Order of Merit Rules confirmed
Yeah, already free last year.
Nothing on the PDC or PDC Europe sites yet, the latter says there won't be info until after Q School.
That's been there for a little while, was mostly introduced because MvG's interminable reign as the Pro Tour leader meant he kept getting the longer rest periods during the final session, I think.thegentle wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 2:22 amThey've also made another minor change to the European Tour seeding system:Pretty pointless stuff, not as if the ProTour seedings are especially rigidSeedings for European Tour Events will be as per Premier Events but the top and bottom halves will alternate across Events. Edit: It's been in the rules since 2016.
